I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. Can you guys list some Pros and Cons of each wheel?? Let's assume I can buy the wheels for the exact same price (couple dollars difference in reality, not enough to take into account).

My type of riding this season will probably be 60/40 crits and road races.

The williams are a bit heavy and are for aerodynamics. I heard somewhere in a review, in crosswinds they can be a bit tedious. But the Ksyrium Sl's are great because its a all around wheel. You can train and race on them.

I've heard the ksyrium SLs are actually pretty aero because of their spokes and rim shape at the nipples. Well, pretty aero for their depth, probably not as aero as the 58c's correct?

Totally agree with this guy. But your comparing 2 totally different wheels that are not in the same category. What exactly will you use them for? the williams are great for high speed flat riding, as long as there are no crosswinds, plus the BLING factor if thats what your after. The Kysriums would be a better all arounder and great for climbing and weigh 400 grams lighter than the Williams (1485 vs 1879 grams).

Why not the Williams 19s? Lighter than mavic and has bladed spokes as well. Wicked fast acceleration for crits. 38s would be the best balance of the two.

I was considering the 19s but I want something more aero for road races. I'm not considering the 38c because the 38c and ksyrium SL are so similar that it would just be a complete tossup and probably wouldn't make a difference which one I go with, but I prefer the looks of the ksyrium SLs.
Currently I'm leaning towards the williams 58c simply because the aerodynamics seems like such a huge factor in this.

What do you guys think of the quality of williams vs. mavics, as far as the components of the wheels go?
I don't know anything about hubs or rims and spokes and such, I just know I'm willing to spend no more than $1100 on a wheelset.

No the 38c and the Ksyrium SL are not similar. Get the 38's.

NorCal cyclist use the 38s for cyclocross.. that proves how durable the wheels are... they're much more aero than the Ksyriums without the weight penalty of the 58s (personally, the Williams 58s are just too heavy.. they opted to go for durable rims with stronger brake track rather than weight). Krysiums are SOLID wheels but in no way are aero (comparable to other wheels in their shallow category). my $.02.. yes, I ll shut up now.

For $1,000, the 38c's are far nicer wheels than the Mavics, I have both. Aeroer (that is the correct technical term, don't even start), better looking, better riding, and only 50-100 grams heavier. Also, Williams uses some kind of proprietary braking surface, and with the Swisstop Yellow pads (which are included with the wheels) offer far better braking performance than you've ever had from any other wheel.

Just get them.

Whoever said the Ksyriums are aero may want to do a little Google-action before saying such inane things...
Square/box section rim with fat/wide spokes does not equal aero...

+1, I've heard the Ksyriums called many things, aero would not be one of them.

To td.tony, the general consensus these days seems to be that for anything but the steepest, prolonged climbs, aero trumps weight every time.

Alright, I lied.

I can actually get the ksyrium SL wheelset(brand new) from my friend for $300 less than the cost of williams system 38c/58c.
I was HOPING that it would be fairly even between the two, that way I could get the ksyrium SL for sure, but now I'm pondering saving up more money to buy 38c/58c.......

Also, I guess my information about the Ksyriums being aero was wrong, so that is a huge minus for me...

What would you guys do in my shoes?

Alright guys, thanks for all your help.
After reviewing all the stats again, I've decided to go with the williams 38c . Now I just have to decide whether I should buy a Sram Rival groupset(currently on tiagra) first or the wheelset first.
