Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Skull caps with neck protection

Anyone know of a skull cap that also covers the neck that doesn't have elastic in it? I have a skull cap and the elastic feels like my head is in a vice. I would prefer something that ties on or has an adjustable strap.

Halo makes one that is called a solar but it looks like it has an elastic band on it.

So you've given up on the skull cap?

I was given a skull cap but can't stand the tightness around my head. I can wear hats but anything with an elastic band bothers me. Looking for alternatives and would prefer a tail on so my neck doesn't get burned.

I use something like this (looks like the same, only it's not called "Buff" here ) to cover my whole head except my face in the coldest days, works really well.

are you putting sunblock on your arms or anywhere else? I actually do have a headsweat with a tail, but it doesn't give much neck coverage. I think it's there mainly for looks.

I put sunblock on my arms, tops of my knees, ears, face and back of my neck.

I do use sunblock from time to time but haven't been using it faithfully. I could do without the tail and use sunblock. The most important part is eliminating the elastic band. I would use a baseball hat but they get too hot.

Sorry. I was trying to make a funny. As in once you saw the bottle of Seagram's you no longer needed the skull cap.

I'm off to my remedial on-line humor class this evening.

Sorry, I didn't catch the joke but I have been in a serious mood lately. Its that damm economy. Anyway, I could use a little funny right even if it falls short. A bottle of Segrams would probably make everything a little funnier.

Two bottles and I'm hysterical. Doesn't matter if you drink the two or I do....either way, two are needed to make me funny!

I have a Voler Sol Skin UV Protector Skully Cap. I got it when it was on sale at the end of last season, so I don't know how well it works in the summer.

It looks like what those German artillerymen were wearing in Guns of Navarone
