Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Riding during lupus flare

Does anyone out there have experience with riding during a lupus flare up? (maybe similar to arthritis?) So far I'm just having joint pain primarily at night, and I feel pretty good during the day when I would ride. Will riding more make things worse or make the damage permanent? Also my first flare affected my kidneys. I was wondering if riding will add more stress and cause it to move back to my kidneys? I know I will have to make sure I'm not getting dehydrated, but anything else? I only plan on doing zone 2 riding for now so nothing extreme. Also I just moved and haven't established care with a rheumatologist yet to get answers, and my primary doc here doesn't seem to care.

A web forum is not a substitute for a doctor.

Call your previous rheumatologist. Should be a pretty quick yes or no answer.

I agree. I was just looking for previous experience if anyone had it.
