Tire direction for Conti 4000s

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The risk is that, if enough people start riding their tyres backwards that their collective energy will have a negative affect on the space time continuum and all life as we know it, could come to an abrupt stop.

If it was only you doing this, it would not matter.

If we all mounted our tires on backwards, would we reverse the rotation of the earth?

Even though that now after reading this thread I know it doesn't matter I will still be installing my tires as the arrow indicates.

But I think that's how you hear the backward tracked vocals on digital media. No more spinning vinyl the wrong way.

Don't be silly - you swap left and right speakers to do that.

I ran GP4000s backwards on my Roubaix all winter lol. Absolutely zero issues. My wife rode that bike with them backwards too with no issues. I only noticed that GP4000s had an arrow when I replaced my Atoms with them on the new bike. I can't see how it would matter unless it has something to do with the tire compound or those "sipes" on the tread edge but I doubt there is anything to it.

directional tires matter off-road. even on a gravel road, what's on the GP4000S is way too shallow to do a damn thing.

but what is key is mounting the front and rear in the same direction. don't you dare put one on each way!

You could get that effect by standing backward.

And you called me silly.

Besides, all that modern crap is like 7.1 channel.

This. Doesn't matter at all. When you're cornering at 35+ mph 8 inches from another rider, the last thing you should care about is which way a rubber arrow is pointing. GL

Nope.

Tread on road tires is purely cosmetic and at least one tire company has admitted adding direction arrows to cut the inquiries about which direction the tires should be mounted.

Apart from that the convention is to mount tires with the label (if only on one side) on the drive side centered on the valve stem.

People ignore STOP signs, speed limits, "do not touch this button" signs, No Smoking", etc...

Put an arrow on tires and "dry clean only" labels on clothes...

The mistake was you posting it on a forum and you caved at the pressure coming from internet strangers you will never meet
