Better quality tires, even in the same size, will help, too. But yeah, moving to 28/30 and being able to lower my pressure to ~70psi made a huge difference. Also, while 80 psi might feel sketchy and wrong on 25s, 60-70psi feels awesome 28/30.

Speaking of, I need to figure out what the hell is going on with my wrists. They are consistently painful during and immediately after I ride, even with 38mm tires at 45-50 psi and a big flexy steel frame.
They also pop constantly. The pain seems to be worse this year than it was last year, which is worrisome given that I want to do a lot more riding this year than I did last year.
I've got a very relaxed position on the bike with as little weight as possible on my hands, so there's not much more improvement I can make there.

Good question? I actually don’t know know if it can. I don’t remember seeing an obvious clearance issue but I’ll do research before I commit to anything.
In my area craiglist is always scarce on bike parts, but it’s never short on road tires. Kind of weird.

I would skip CL for tires - good ones are cheap to come by (well, unless you're running tubeless) and are the BF-approved Best BFTB.

Clearances were kinda tight in that time period - slightly large 25s might be the best that you can do, but yeah - look at the frame and brake caliper clearances.

So to determine clearance is it best to measure, or try and hunt down old bike information.......

Measure.... kinda. 4mm is pretty much the industry accepted clearance, so I'd take a 4mm Allen wrench and use it as a spacer to eyeball all of the tight spots (top and sides of the tire) and get an idea of how much more it's got to give. You can go a little tighter than that 4mm if you have to, but I wouldn't go too much tighter - you want debris clearance and things can flex when riding.

Hit 10,004 miles on the Forester yesterday. Not bad for about 44 months.

I’m pretty certain that was the prevailing opinion at the time, although finding many of those folks to confirm today would be impossible.

My ac compressor died after about 2 years. Glad it was still under warranty. The driver's seatbelt cover split open, the battery died prematurely, and not long after I bought it I got a recall notice. Seems the lazy Japanese robot that built the thing may not have added enough transmission fluid at the factory. Recently got another recall notice. Seems there is a corrosion problem in the wires for the front passenger sensor. No solution yet. Subaru's workaround for now: Limit the use of the front passenger seat.

Speaking of cars, a Facebook friend reposted this long list of things that you should do to protect your from the beer virus. One was using a barrier when you pump gas. I commented that I buy my gas in New Jersey, so that's not an issue for me.

When I bought my truck about 4 years ago it had around 50k miles.
Only a few months into owning it it threw a check engine light for the camshaft position sensor. I got it replaced under the factory powertrain warranty, but then a few weeks later it threw the same code again.
I took it to the dealership again and after a day they told me that they called GM and they recommended a complete engine replacement due to excessive crankshaft endplay.
The powertrain warranty had about 2 weeks to go before it expired

Oh pulleeze, he’s still a pup for crying out loud. There’s no way in the world anyone 30-anything should have aches and pains outside of injury. Aches and pains only become routine after 50 . . . . . . . there’s a whole sub forum here to testify to that.
