Campagnolo Shamal 12 HPW crack
So I've been riding a set of 90s Shamals for a long time, they are pretty beat up, they have the classic crack on the valve, anyone know the life expectancy of the rim? Recently I was descending at 70kmh and I kept thinking about the crack...

It has failed and given you a warning sign.
Why bother trying to keep it till it fails completely.

The crack will most likely continue to grow (get longer) until the remaining uncracked portion can no longer sustain the load, then boom, major failure. Wear a good helmet....
Seriously, time for a new wheel.

Theoretically drilling a hole at the end of the crack will stop it spreading. I'm not sure I'd want that on my bike, though.

It may but it may not. Drilling a hole simply changes the notch from a pointed tip at the end of the crack to something less severe, like a hole. So, depending on load situation, crack may stop or may start to grow again from the hole. Just my couple of cents worth of opinion.

Thanks for the hole idea , but I don't have the balls to do it haha, I made a mark, if the crack goes through the mark I will stop using them.

Given the potential consequences of going into the hospital now (A recent German study has concluded that due to asymptomatic carriers, there are NO hospitals that can guarantee they are Covid-free*) I myself take this a bit more seriously. But I agree with the others: fatigue failure is no joke and a crack can propagate with one bump to catastrophic failure.
*On the anecdotal side, a colleague of my wife (at a hospital) was exposed without knowing it at work. Didn't get infected (was wearing mask and PPE even for patients not yet testing positive) but it was a nervous few days of self-isolation.
