Performance Bike Rhynolite/Deore wheels

I know these were mentioned a while back when I was looking for a wheel, figured I'd mention that at least my local Performance has them marked down to $36 if anyone is looking. Picked up a front to replace the front on my 26" touring bike.

Had a bunch of random Nashbar goodies in store too, including boxes of socks for $1.50, seems that there may be truth to it going away as well.

I bought a rear wheel from them recently. Maybe time for a front one to match. Decent wheel, but nothing fancy. One in my area is closing and the other is staying open. Apparently they transferred a bunch of stuff to the remaining store, but it’s worth taking a look around.

I was not seeing any great wheel bargains on line, I am guessing that the only great wheel bargains are in their physical stores.

I used that exact setup on my first touring bike. A little heavy, but strong as hell and decently low rolling resistance. Good deal.

Just picked up a Rhyonlite Deore front wheel for $36 at the store. Nice to have a matching set that will last probably forever. Apparently the original plan was to keep some stores open, but now all are closing when everything is sold. Time to stock up on consumables, but I’ll wait for liquidation prices to kick in. Performance brand stuff will probably be a real bargain when the stock gets lower. Right now the store look pretty much fully stocked, but with prices reduced.

Sun Rhyno Light is the rim Hand check bargain wheels by hand, invariably they're machine built a cost savings passed onto you....

Any new bike you buy will have 2 machine built wheels...... its no big deal....

I've had a pair of Sun Rhyno Lites on my '520 for 3 years now and have found them to be quite good. They have stayed amazingly true, which, given the lousy roads I ride on here in Upstate NY, that's really saying something!

I'm tempted to buy the rear simply to match, but the bike has a pretty much new, somewhat nicer, wheel back there and I don't have any other 26" bikes it would be useful on.

I've been running these on my old mtb for over 10 years! It is my do-all bike, grocery getter, rail-trail rider, winter beater, dirt trail. I rotate street, off road, and studded tires on these rims. Bomb proof!

OK, broke down and bought a matching rear, since it was $32. Fronts are down to $28 and change. Stores are actually restocking somewhat too, guess as they clear out inventory they're randomly shipping whatever is left in the warehouses to them.

Yep, Rhino Lites are the rims, and they're very good. 👍 I've had them with LX hubs and with XT hubs, and both were great. 🙂

Last day at the last store in the area and everything was 90% off. Lucked out with one more front wheel at a whopping $7.99. Have no immediate need for it, but I’m a sucker for a great deal.

Niagara stopped selling months ago, now with the Performance and Nashbar demise, I wonder what is going on with the budget on-line sellers? I learned of Performance and Nashbar difficulties while tire shopping about a month ago. I ended up buying from a UK seller. If there is a hard Brexit, those of us in USA might lose access to the UK sellers too.

I thought that website looked oddly familiar when it started popping up on Google searches.

Thanks for posting.

Months ago I occasionally went to the Niagara site and found it was re-directed to a new site. But every item I looked at was out of stock. Did that several times, always out of stock. Thus, I quit looking and if you had not posted that, I might never have looked again.

Thanks again.
