Daccordi STX Columbus Steel ‘80s/‘90s? Value?

Hello,

From what I can gather from my local shop after getting it tuned up recently, this is a Daccordi STX Steel frame with a Campagnolo Grupo. I believe he said something about a floating gear on the rear wheel (not sure what that means, kind of new to this). While not official, if I measured correctly it’s a 20.5 inch, possibly slightly larger frame. It just fits me or is a bit small and I’m roughly 5’ 9.5”. I purchased the bike while living abroad in Bologna, Italy and have brought it back to Washington, DC. From Ebay and browsing, I’ve found values from $1,800 through $3,000 so a large range. Any help on value would be appreciated! Trying to get something more easily ridden around the city once I sell.

How much did you originally pay when you bought it in Italy? That might help us give an accurate valuation today.

Your Daccordi is a model called Griffe. The fancy lugs and SLX lugs are nice features. I think the $1,800 number may be a bit high, however.

Didn't the Griffe have those weird ribbed head tube lugs?

Unfortunately, I don’t remember how much I paid (was a number of years ago), and it was also a semi-gift from a colleague who had a lot of bikes and wanted me to get into cycling. Does anyone have an idea what year it might be? Was thinking possibly 1991 or 1989. Also, I’m a bit of a newb at this, but does it make sense to break it down for sale or sell as a grupo? What are thoughts on a solid asking price?

Are these values on items that have SOLD, or are you quoting asking/dreaming/hoping prices?

"I’ve found values from $1,800 through $3,000 so a large range."

Nice bike but the $3,000 number is absurd. Even $1,800 is out of sight. I'm thinking you'd be lucky to get half of that.

Those were just list prices for a few complete Daccordi sets on EBay that I found. Wasn’t really sure where else to look in terms of “sold” prices. I see some Daccordi bikes/frames listed for 800-1400, but generally without the Campagnolo grupo. My local bike shop also told me that the hand painted nature and more decorative steel details on this frame (I.e. flames/not sure what to call them?) put my bike in the higher quality range for classic Daccordi bikes.

So if you all were listing on a Facebook page to sell, would you think listing at $1200/1400 is more reasonable?

There is a filter on eBay where you can see "Sold" and "Completed" listings. To answer your question, I'd start by taking the "1" off of the $1,800 figure and you are probably getting in the ballpark as far as real-life value.

The more highly priced Daccordi bikes have fancier frames (e.g. the 50 Anno or gold plated fork frames) and group sets in impeccable, pretty much perfect condition.
Many Daccordi frames are pure customs built to order, so they vary quite a bit from example to example.
Agreed that yours, even in DC, would probably fetch no more than $800 on CL and VERY lucky to get that.
You might get that more easily on eBay, but be prepared to pay the fees and ship the bike.
Why not just keep it and ride it around the city?

As I’ve started riding more, I’ve realized that I’d like a slightly larger frame and possibly a cushier rise. Something like a gravel bike or a light mountain bike. Not exactly sure yet. Thanks for everyone’s thoughts though. If anyone else has thoughts, please let me know!

You might be likely to get a better sale price with a prettier stem. Whether it'd make enough of a difference to be worth the bother of removing the tape/lever, I don't know.

That Campagnolo group looks like circa 1993 Velocι, which was lower end. While the frame itself is very nice, the group is cosmetically challenged. I wouldn't be in at even 1/2 the lower end of the found Ebay price range. For me, this would be a part out. The group really drags down the frame.

Beautiful bike, I love the lugwork. A Daccordi just sat on the local CL for $300, but was not nearly as nice. I could see this bike being worth upwards of $800 to the right person.

Agree, the 50th Anno model is more desirable and usually has higher end Campagnolo or Dura Ace components.

My opinion is that 1800 is a dream, steel bikes are super cool (to me), but many aren't that interested today. As others noted the Campag groupset is a bit used. There were a few nice Italian bikes on CL within a 2 hour drive of me, they've been on there for months if not a year at similar asking prices. One sold when price was dropped to 600 (I was waiting for 4/500). Just my opinion, but this seems to be reality for steel framesets. I agree the Daccordi is a nice SLX frameset. Good luck.

I sold this one sold on eBay last fall. Crimped tubes, gold flaked paint, and in better condition, though your fancy lugs are sweet. IIRC $1080 plus $100 shipping with SR tubular wheels.

What I decided!

I decided I was too emotionally attached to get rid of the bike, so I looked for a bunch of different ways to change it into a superstar road bike. One of the local guys at my bike shop said that he had put a pair of Schwinn handlebars and some down tube shifters on his own road bike to make it more comfortable to ride. I basically did that, put on VO handlebars, VO brake levers, VO platform pedals, a new saddle, and Dia compe bar-end shifters. Now it rides like a ridiculously fast and smooth city bike. Exactly what I wanted! Sorry I don’t have a price follow up, but this baby should stay with me for a long while now.
