Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's a shame because she is a good person and was hurt and even a little frightened by those idiots. Mostly the one guy but one of his friends would add to the crap sometimes.
That's too bad. People don't report those incidents enough, they seem to assume, mistakenly, that moderators are monitoring conversations, and that if we don't stop the abuse it must be because it's the norm. They fail to realize how few moderators there are here and that there's no way to monitor this entire forum in real time. If they only knew how much yours truly dislikes bullies.

Speaking of snowy owls, there's an eBird report that someone spotted a snowy owl in NY's Central Park today.

They probably were looking at a fat seagull or something. smh

EDIT: It seems I was hasty with my disparagement, there are now reports from 6 different people about the sighting. That's stunning.

In my case, COVID19 shot #2 reaction was somewhere midway between Shingrix #1 and #2. Of course, YMMV.

If you got one shot you do NOT have to start over even if delay in getting second shot. Just get it when you can.

Who has two houses less than 20 miles apart???
Microclimates. 20 miles can make the difference between 55 degrees of blowing ocean fog, and sunny and 90 degrees.

If I had the money, the only way I'd leave would be in a pine box. The weather ain't perfect, but you can ride year 'round. I'm so used to the diversity that going back to PA where I grew up and it's all white people creeps me out a little.

BUT, since we DON'T, and almost certainly WON'T have the money, we're scoping out places to retire to. I THINK I've managed to convince Mrs. GeneJockey that her ancestral stomping grounds in Erie County PA is a bad idea. Not only is it cold, but it's economically dying. It is literally the place that 'Marketplace' goes to to talk about the dying old manufacturing cities of the Rust Belt. Declining population, lousy services, etc. The area where I grew up is warmer and more economically viable. But the problem with a rural area is how far everything is from everything else. Not a problem at 70, but a big problem a >90. Dad drove till he was 96, but he was starting to get lost sometimes by then.

Some of those days in the winter were horrifying with -30°F wind chills and stuff so I feel for you. On the positive side, it's all of those years of working outside that makes winter riding bearable but I admit that my temperature thresh hold has been slowly rising the last few years.

Indeed. Ask the subjects in the TeGenero TGN1412 Clinical Trial - the first 6 subjects suffered life threatening cytokine storms, minutes after receiving a really, really small dose.

DFW has a lot going for it as you can live in the burbs and be within 30-40 minutes of anything you want - major league sports, museums, music/theater/arts, shopping, great dining, outdoor activities, etc. On the other hand, we have goats, horses, and other livestock 100-200 yards from our house so we live in a more country than urban feel. For the most part, we have an outdoor climate year round, whether that's biking, boating, or doing anything else. Just have to be prepared to tolerate some heat, but that's why we have shorts and flip flops. Cost of living is very reasonable as well with no state income tax and fairly reasonable housing costs.
And if all that wasn't enough, it/s the home of the legendary Dallas Cowboys.
