Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was just watching the weather and tomorrow's forecast puts us right on the border of either 3-6" or 5-8" so I'm guessing we won't be leaving the house for the next 24-48 hours especially combined with the -25° wind chills.

Like I said yesterday, our Kickr is a good value this year.

It was raining lightly before I got ready to head out for my usual Sunday ride, and Wunderground's radar suggested more and worse on the way, so I did fake miles instead. I rode the "Triple Loops" course in London in Zwift, with both Leith Hill and Box Hill, and while both were tough - they're hills, after all - they're also relatively short, and nothing like as bad as the Innsbruck climb.

"Triple Loops" is SUPPOSED TO BE about 25 miles, so as I reached 24 miles, I kept waiting for the banner saying I'd completed it, but it never appeared. "Must have a long lead in", I thought. So I kept going. And going. For like 10 more miles. Groups formed, stuck together for a couple miles, and fell apart. When I reached 2 hours and 35+ miles I stopped.

I checked later, and I HAD gotten the 'Triple Loops' route badge. Oh, well.

We were under threat of cold temperatures today so I did non-counting quasi-slow jogging miles instead. I think I did a PR? 36:30 (previous 37:00+).

Without a distance, that's almost a unitless number. But, kudos, presumably.

Presumably? For a PR?

It's a full-fledged kudos!

Update: antigen test came back negative, waiting on PCR. Girls’ stepdad tested positive, they are getting tested today at 9:45.

given the timing of exposure etc I can’t imagine they don’t have it, or that wife and I don’t. If somehow we don’t, we’re extremely lucky.

We are in either the 5-6" or 7-10" band of snow depending upon the model. The snow is no concern but this never-ending cold is getting very, very tiresome. -2°F this AM, -18° windchill. and snowing...

I feel for people with SADD; they've had a rough winter, I'm sure.
