Cycle-Along DVDs or YouTube Videos?

Does anyone use actual DVDs (e.g., Spinervals) or play any of the YouTube channels while they cycle along to somewhat simulate cycling and to at least change the "scenery?" I've never taken the time to try Zwift and wanted to try these first.

I just went straight to zwift. The problem I have with just watching a show (ie a video) is that it doesn't inspire any sort of effort on my part.
You can always watch replays of races. Road Grand Tours is another option for changing scenery and there's at least one more that's slipping my mind at the moment.

I find hockey good to use for intervals. Pick a team and hammer whenever they head up the ice. Football can work too. Start hammering when the quarterback approaches the center and stop after the play is blown dead.

Now on the elliptical, there is only one kind of video to watch... Steam engines...

Youtube the GCN show. They have workout videos from 20min up to an hour. Some are spin class style indoors and some have outdoor scenery.

I have been using the various Spinervals DVDs for several years now. I purchased them rather cheaply from Ebay over time. Gives me several options depending on what I want to target. Topics include various levels of intervals, hill climbing, endurance, and virtual rides of Ironman routes, Works for me during Michigan winters and rainy days.

Before I got my studded snow tires I walked and jogged on a treadmill on un-rideable days. I found un-edited commute videos kept my interest. I can't explain it. Usually unedited ride videos are deathly boring, but on the treadmill, looking ahead to the next intersection, or trying to see around a curve, or checking parked cars for doors and keeping an eye on other vehicles, bikes and pedestrians worked to keep me interested.

The only problem was videos from where they drive on the opposite side of the road...those made me dizzy...especially Sydney, Australia for some reason. Bike paths were okay.

I realize that's not the same as training, per se, but it that's what I do.

(Especially helpful the year I was off the bike due to a non-cycling injury.)

Ain't nobody got that kind of stamina! The football game is superior - you only have to pedal 16 seconds... and out of a full 4 hour game there's only about 22 min. of action anyway.

Do people watch POV videos of someone cycling whilst they're on a trainer indoors?

Before I got on Zwift, I would watch the GCN videos. Pretty good workouts. Also, you can youtube some of the one-day classics and ride the cobbles in your garage.

Sufferfest, Spinervals and GNC. Meah, not that impressed.

I have POV long run .movs I use on a big tablet for long duration treadmills runs. Those are actually pretty good, I've run London, Singapore, Bay Bridge, Grand Canyon, etc. Zero expense thanks to Youtube.

Haven't found something similar for a dumb trainer, ... of course if you want to spend the money there is Zwift et al.
There are different collections of POV ride videos on Youtube, I haven't had the chance to try them out:
