Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Considering it’s free (at least I use the free version) I think it’s very useful. Some people are very competitive and take segments and (gasp!) average speed too seriously. It’s a tool, and IMO a decent one.

It’s the thing that Intervals.icu works with, so it’s great.

Thanks for all the wheelset help, guys.

I'm sure everything is going to work out fine. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the wheels, hopefully they'll arrive within a week.

It's a jewel, not a tool. Sad.

Of course now I notice that it's off-kilter. Got out of practice while work was killing me.

Hey Humbug, I got a second Japanese knife - a Mazaki 180 petty in white #2 (iron clad). It comes in handy. I still kind of want a bunka or 180/210 gyuto with a 50mm+ heel, but it's not a burning desire that can't wait; didn't see any irresistible Black Friday deals along those lines. If a TF Maboroshi with Wa handle would have went on sale someplace, that would have been mighty tempting.

I'll probably bring a couple few knives with me when we go to the in-laws for the holidays. I usually end up doing a lot of cooking and their **** show knives drive me crazy.

Tempranillo, nice. Very popular and noted grape from Spain. Oh, you also spelled crabon wrong. I'll give you a pass since you been away from the madness a while.

Now that you bought them, you know the next step. Post in the 41 asking if you got a good deal.

Never tried a bunka, but 50mm is a minimum heel for me. I like the height so much I tried a Kurokumo with a 60mm heel, and that's a bunch. My Bloodroot will likely be based on the Akebono and ~55mm.

As for traveling with knives, I have a gyuto and a petty in an Ironman backpack with a rollable cutting board, avocado oil, salt, pepper, and a few other things I can't remember. It just goes in the truck when we go to Chatty or Boulder and makes the Residence Inn actually work for cooking in. Though I suspect we're the only people who stay there and actually make regular use of the kitchen. You could probably even bring only that petty, but I'd be iffy leaving an ironclad knife around relatives. The travel knives I have are a stainless-clad Wakui and a full-stainless Tanaka. They at least won't rust. You could look into a similar basic+ for the purpose, like the Suisin Inox or... there was one I can't remember off the top of my head with a rosewood handle. It'll come. Probably while I'm trying to get to sleep tonight.

For premium entertainment it’s best that way.

This is our local High School. It is the same one that Justin Fields (Ohio State QB) graduated from.

My 240 Yoshikane is stainless clad and the core steel (SKD) is pretty stain resistant. Not that I'd have to worry too much about the in-laws - they'd have to actually be of a mind to pick up a knife and do some work for them to be a threat.

I came across a sale on Cervelo R3 Disc framesets. I really don't need a new/different bike, but the $1200 price tag is threatening to make rationality fly out of the window.

I have one, as you know, and like it, but I would never have gotten the discs if given the choice at that price.

I'm not going to buy another bike without discs at this point - I'm not a small guy, I like the braking feel and power... and they make it easier to justify carbon rims.

I'm still thinking of ways to justify the R3 when I have a perfectly capable <2yo bike that's not terribly dissimilar - the R3 would be slightly more aggressive and nimble and a little lighter. But still want.
