When Comcast lost its bid to buy ESPN, they decided they were going to make OLN a competitor to ESPN, hence the hockey acquistion, and now the name change. Professional cycling arguably fits into VERSUS, at least as well or better than it fit into a "hook and bullet" OLN. In the end it still comes down to whether cycling can draw an audience.

Well, considering how idiotic most of their coverage is, I'm really not that surprised.
I watched some of the Cyclism show yesterday, and had to turn it off. While I can remember the days before OLN coverage of cycling (the John Tesh period and ESPN) I've become far too spoiled by euro coverage. Ol' Phil & Paul can be so inept and downright inane in their commentary.
Granted, it's better than nothing, but the coverage is not going to win many converts to cycling IMO.
Give me Michel Wuyts any day.

Seems like a wierd name to me...but really...all I care about is the fact that they better keep carrying pro cycling baby....watching these spring classics on Sunday evenings has been great!

I'm guessing they saw Koffee's post about L-B-L yesterday and decided to change the name to escape her wrath... 
"Versus" sounds like a lot of other goofy cable channels. We'll get used to it and it will sound like second nature after a while.

Their big money sport right now is NHL hockey, so it was probably inevitable that the "Outdoor" in the name had to go. They probably hired some expensive marketing consultant to come up with the new name and that consultant couldn't come back with something boring like "Comcast Sports Network" and still get paid.

OK, let's stop watching bike racing on OLN and switch to...errr...all the other channels that show bike racing -- like none. Believe me, OLN did not steal the television rights to all these european races from any other US network.
So let's stop watching period. BTW, this doesn't mean that OLN (or whatever they are going to be called) can't do better, but saying they are %*&# doesn't help either.
