LBS names

Reading the fender thread reminded me of the name of our LBS - Muddy Bums.

Not far away is one called Cyclopedia.

What unusual names do your LBS's have.

All the (very few) shops in this area have depressingly normal names. I think the wildest is Wild Trak Bicycles, and that's not very wild. Breese Bikes and The Cyclery are even more depressingly normal! It would be nice to have something like a "Pedal Panders" or a "Pi R Round Bakery and Bicycle store" Edit: Do we need to speculate on what the Bakery would specialize in?

Mellow Velo; it's kind of a hipster bike shop not far from the Syracuse University campus. Kind of a cool store because the owner is into older/vintage bikes so he always has a bunch on display for sale.

Flying Fish Bikes is the strangest one we have. All the others have pretty normal names.

Local bike shops here have unremarkable names: Brown Cycles, Ruby Canyon Cycles, Bicycle Outfitters, The Bike Shop, Over The Edge Cycles, Rapid Creek Cycles, Singletracks, Grassroots.

I did see a Freeze Thaw Cycles in Pennsylvania. Liked that name.

Awww Man, I was so hoping for a story about a bunch of friends in a car and a funny mooning of a cop or something. How normal can you get.

In Westwood (Los Angeles CA), I always liked Charlie Harding's sign: C Harding's for Bikes. (It was up the street from I N Joy Bagels.)

In my neighborhood we have Nytro and Ride, as well as Pink Peloton women's cycling apparel. Other good shops are simply named after either their street (Camino Bikes) or neighborhood (Leucadia Bikes).

I worked for Bikecology in the early 1970s, but no one was quite sure how to pronounce it.

The UC San Diego's on-campus bike shop is merely the "UCSD Bike Shop," but its slogan is, "Where cycling is academic."

The landlord graciously gave it back to me (after his lawyer informed him that he could be convicted of theft for depriving me of the use of my property).

When I lived in Davis there was a shop called Cyclepath that was run by two brothers. I only dealt with them once for a warranty issue after they became the Trek dealers.

My favorite shop in Davis was called Wheelworks. It still exists with a different owner. My favorite shop in Eugene is also named Wheelworks. I suppose there are many of these across the country.

The best-named shop in Eugene is the CAT: Center for Appropriate Transportation. Its name says it all. They are the go-to place to keep a town bike rolling for pennies. They maintain buckets of used parts. They also have a fabrication department called human powered machines. They make some nice carts and hauling bents.

Most imaginative LBS name in Honolulu (not that the competition is intense): The Kickstand
Least imaginative: The Bike Shop
Honorable mention: Eki Cyclery (founded 1911, one of the oldest surviving Japanese-American businesses in the nation, and nice people)

My favorite anywhere: Bike Junkie (Bethpage, Long Island)

We have a bunch of quality bike shops in town so when a new one opened a few years ago they picked a somewhat clever name...ABS.
It stands for, Another Bike Shop

The owner/manager of my LBS is a wonderful educator of customers and a talented craftsman. He is a young man (~40) but has an impressive depth of knowledge. His shop is BICYCLE DOC in Norcross, Georgia and his name is Scott Mosko. Nuf said.
