Whats your favorite riding glove? Need some Glove Recommendations!
Looking for a few suggestions for mountain biking gloves. I was going to look into short finger gloves but read a few things that there are some light and breathable full finger gloves out there. SO what gloves do you ride with?

Short finger gloves, unless when it’s uncomfortably cold or ... if you fall off your bike a little too much ;-)

I've ridden with home depot gloves(work gloves.) and giro both work fine. Downside is I like riding as much as I can in the winter so far not found gloves where my fingers don't go number after a few minutes.

I've like Pearl Izumi Elite gloves. Fit well, look good, and have excellent padding. The only time I ride without gloves is to get a tan on my hands to eliminate that deeply tanned arm contrasted by glaringly white hands. But during those sunning rides, my hands always perspire a lot so the hoods are very slippery.

I would honestly go and try some pairs on and see what fits the best. A better fit will out weight any factor on gloves

Tried a bunch...I settled on the Fox Ranger gloves. Let’s see how these work.

I like Pearl Izumi and Giro. Good priced and durable. REI is always a good place to buy. REI.com/outlet is even better. You can buy 2 or 3 year old New inventory for half price.

last year I found some cheap football fan gloves at a gas station. cotton fabric I think & rubberized palms. absorbent so good for wiping my brow & nose. good breathability. easy to hand wash & air dry in a day or so. snug enough & not tight, w/ elastic cuffs. super cheap & thought they would be fun around the house or in the car for chilly mornings. eventually wound up using them on the bike. lost one, couldn't find them at the gas station a year later, found similar on-line for 9 bucks! & bought a diff. color, then found the one I couldn't find. anyway wore them almost all winter cuz I also use bar mitts. maybe someone else could find their favorite team & find these gloves fun/useful
mine
good dexterity handling maps & sport cams
Wincraft NFL New England Patriots Mechanical/Gardening/Work/Utility Glove with 3D Logo …
the company makes various here
there are other companies that make these kind of cheap fan gloves
good luck w/ your quest

I just finished Cycle Oregon on my fix gear. Wore $25 long fingered Giant gloves the whole week. Both they and my fingers held up really well. The undersides of brake levers are a real finger killer when you do long climbs on a fix gear because you pull so much harder than the geared folk and the brake lever makers usually don't give a lot of thought to the unseen undersides. (Yes I could and did change cogs to a 43 x 23 or 24 for the serious climbs so it wasn't the 42 x 17 of my younger (and crazier) days but still, I was the only one out there in that high a low gear, Sitting wasn't an option.)
I had thickened calluses on the inside of my ring finger knuckles but that was it. Never any discomfort. The gloves are thin for warm weather and are clearly intended for MTB use, camouflage in color and no padding at all. I have never liked heavily padded gloves so for me, that wasn't an issue on the road bike brakes and handlebars. I wish they had velcro cuffs for easier on and off, but that is a minor issue. I'll buy them again when these wear out.

I’m on the other side of the spectrum.....always full finger, no matter how hot it may be. I rarely crash, but since I can’t plan when it’ll happen, it’s best to be prepared.

Yes, long fingered gloves seem to be great even in warm weather. I have been riding on a few hot days and the gloves never bothered me.

For short finger gloves which I prefer to use during the summer months, I used to have a cheap pair of Fox gloves. They are starting to wear out on the palm and could not find them so I bought a pair of Pearl Izumi. I think I like the Fox the best because they have no gel or padding in the palm. The Pearl Izumis have a very thin layer of padding in the palm, but not enough to bother me. I generally find that the gel makes holding onto the handlebars for long periods uncomfortable. For full finger gloves I found that Mechanix Wear gloves are nice becuase they are fairly breathable and offer pretty good dexterity and fell through the fingers. I've had my Mechanix gloves for many years and only now are they showing signs of some wear. Time for me to splurge and spend $15 for a new pair.
