He would also eat the "knuckles" off the ends of chicken legs and suck out the marrow. Peanut butter, bacon and hot sauce sandwiches were another treat he loved. He died at the ripe old age of 64.

1) They come in your yard and eat plants you spent hard-earned money raising in your yard.
2) They come in your yard and bring disease-carrying ticks that drop off in your yard to wait for you to pass by.
3) They have a nasty habit of feeding near roadways and spontaneously stepping in front of moving cars . . . for no discernible reason.
I remember driving on interstate 84 about a month after just moving to the country, after having spent my entire early years living in the big city where there are no deer. But I had heard stories. You know what’s coming next, right?
All of a sudden I see a large antlered deer decide to bolt directly across the 6 lane highway. Why, who the hell knows? Did the grass smell greener over there? I know he made it at least to the median, I zipped past him and couldn’t see the rest, but I pray that some poor guy with kids in the car didn’t plow into that dumbass deer going 65 mph. That s not something you want to see.
So I say all that just to reveal that yes, every time I see a deer I wish somebody would shoot him. Sorry.

I'm not vegetarian, but I'd say at least 19/20 meals we cook at home are.
I love not having to worry about whether I've cooked my food enough to not be dangerous to me, or whether I've cross-contaminated my veggies.
Plus, meat is messy. And expensive!

I don't mind eating them. As long as they have been scrubbed clean.
Actually, mrs datlas sometimes buys a 1 pound bag of carrots and I typically eat the whole thing in one sitting.

You seem to have inadvertently overlooked the ample carrots and beetroot, superfoods both. But yeah, I do believe improving my overall nutrition can be beneficial, because after all you are what you eat. But if not I’ll have to look elsewhere.

Yeah, and people smoke for decades and die of something else.

All those things you're eating are good to eat. I'm just wondering how eating an unnatural amount of them (via juicing) is supposed to help with anaemia. Remember, I have this problem too, so it's not a theoretical issue.

They do have more fat that I imagined. One patty has 25% of the RDA of saturated fat. The odd thing I found about cooking them was knowing when they were done. Also, I wondered what was responsible for the "bloody burger juice" looking liquid so I looked up the ingredients. Probably the beet juice extract for people who need to think they are eating meat.

In a brilliant move that might otherwise be seen as slightly paranoid, Bah Humbug dulled the impact of my double metric century sneak attack with a preemptive imperial century of his own. Well played, sir. Well played.

A slow rolling thunderstorm, with a gentle rain. Idyllic. I could stand one like this weekly. Alas, we have them a couple times per year. I plan to ride home from Merida tomorrow afternoon. It could be more of the same

"Saturated fat" is what you call a lipid made up of fatty acids with no double bonds, so coconut oil is an oil, but it's 90% saturated fat.

Actually, there is no chemical distinction between "oils" and "fats." Colloquially, we tend to call the ones that are liquid at room temperature oils and those also tend to be the "unsaturated" ones.

As you probably remember, I’ve done a lot of riding in Montana. Deer are almost as numerous as pigeons in the big city. In 2017 I passed a motorist who had just hit one. Her hood was buckled. No visible external damage to the animal, but the thing was dead as fried chicken. People with expensive truck often have guards on the front, which I assume are to protect the vehicle in case of a deer or elk strike. On the last day of my 2019 tour I left my hotel in town early. There were several grazing by the side of the road by a gas station/convenience store. A couple of them wandered into the road without looking. The locals know to expect stupid behavior from them.
