When I got home last night, there were 2 boxes waiting for me - the new Elite Direto trainer, and the cassette to go on it! I hauled it all down to the garage, where physical set up was simple, but electronic setup took a bit more effort. I feel like the instructions that came with it weren't clear enough on how to set that side up. But I got it all done, and set off for a ride in Zwift. I chose "Legends and Lava" because it has ups and downs and flats and sprints, all in 15 "miles". Since it starts off flat, I didn't notice much difference at first, but as soon as it hit the rollers in Titans Grove - Wow! The instant the gradient changed on screen, I could feel the increased resistance. With the Kick'r Snap, there's a couple seconds lag, so you're part way up the roller before you feel it, and then you're already past the top before it lets up. On the Direto, it felt instantaneous - as soon as I passed the bottom of the trough the resistance started, and then it let off as soon as I leveled out at the tops. There was one time when I was drafting somebody, then popped out from behind them and I'd swear I could FEEL the increased resistance.
In some ways, it felt easier to ride, but I think I was having a bit of a "Cycling God" day, like averaging 740w for 20 seconds in the sprint, then pushing up the following short climb out of the saddle at FTP. It does seem to be better for riding out of the saddle. On the Volcano climb, it was easy to find a gear that worked well, and the resistance didn't all feel the same above 8%, but actually increased. I'll have to try it out on Innsbruck, or worse - the Radio Tower!
So, was it worth it? I dunno. But I like it better.

On the whole question of thanking people, it seems to me that there are a number of things one can do in day to day life that cost you nothing but make others feel better. Thanking them is one. Sincerely apologizing, when you're wrong, is another. Acknowledging mistakes. Not getting bent out of shape over honest mistakes others make. And yet, IME you'll find managers who seem to think that doing any of that is a form of weakness.

Family is coming to watch me race on Sunday. Plan is still only to do masters. A friend of mine asked me to watch his son while he races, so he is doing the 3/4. If my wife can handle three kids I might do the 3/4. I would like to, the team plans on working together and though the guys in that race on my team are stronger than me I would like to contribute. I think it will be too much for my wife though.

GL in the racing Bam! Let us know how it goes. If it's not too much for your wife, getting more experience working as a team is good.
Just remember not to have baby rattlesnake syndrome, ya know using all your venom in one or two shots. That is very common at lower levels. Be smooth, don't react right away if you don't have to

Plan still stands, unless the team gets in a break right away, I plan on attacking in the lulls. Burn up the other teams energy.

Was able to make a claim through the other party's insurance, car will be heading to the collision center for estimate tomorrow.
Rental car acquired through the 24th on their insurance's dime. I passed on the Charger and got a Camry.
I'm a little surprised at how smoothly everything got arranged. I mean, 2.5 hours on the phone wasn't really fun but I guess the tedious part is over - unless they total it and I have to go car shopping

Solid plan, good luck. Also - find out who the other good guys are and mark em. If one of your teammates gets up the road after or between your attacks, and then one of the other good guys tries to bridge, camp the wheel. Don't work unless they pull you all the way up there.

Yea in the past I killed myself bridging gaps when there was no point. Won’t make that mistake again.
if I just do the masters, It will just be me, i’ll try and stay in the front, that’s all I got.

you've been on BF since 2007 and just started posting here recently. For that you should get an atomic wedgie. Offsetting your indiscretion is the quality posts. Let's call it a 1 stick of dynamite wedgie and move on.
