Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gold annodized components. Never seen it before. Ishiwata 022 tubing. Panaracer Pasela tires will be removed once we get it home. I"ve never been a fan of gumwall tires, a blasphemous statement in the c&v world. And the rear wheel will get re-built with shiny new spokes. Possibly the front too

I am happy on any climb as long as it's 15% or less. The real steep ones bother me. But medium climbs are the best. The BEST, Jerry, the BEST!!

Spinning out at 100 screams "NEWB".

Just ordered a Quarq DZERO carbon crankset. Quarq gives a pretty good discount when your old one dies.

That's how it was done back then. I would probably fabricate a small fairing out of CF, that would duplicate the shape of the seat tube(if I actually purchased the bike).

I will often stop pedaling after reaching 100 rpm on descents.

My form starts to fall apart above 110 rpm or so.

Also, unless I'm chasing the folks that dropped me on the climb, I loose interest in spinning that fast on descents of more than a few hundred yards.

+1

Last weekend I hit 42mph on the descent from 7 Springs into Cave Creek, but stopped pedaling around 38mph(50x12).

100 rpm IS my natural cadence.

That's because that whole association is a myth. However, wool socks are a significant quality of life thing.

I was going to ask about this and/or their warranty policy - I figured that they would treat customers well, but you never know when companies change hands.

In the past they performed calibrations on it for free even though it was out of warranty. Quarq has always been good to me. But, like you said, never know once a larger company takes over.

I purchased my old Quarq in 2010 so it is way past any warranty, even though it did go five years without being used. Kind of funny that it worked great for two or three weeks then just decided to quit communicating.

For me, it's very load-dependent - 100rpm at 121 watts is prolly much more sloppy that 120rpm at 1.21 gigawatts.

I got up to 42 coming off a hill in MT three years ago. That was an oddity for me. I like to keep it below 35.

Once you get into the foothills surrounding Phoenix, 40+mph is pretty easy to do. The roads are wide and usually pretty straight(with smooth pavement).
