Alberto Contador will be found...

So, if the CAS ever reaches a verdict on the 2010 Tour de France debacle, what do you think it will be?

Dunno how they can avoid taking his TdF win away - he had a zero-tolerance substance in him. If they let him get off, they set a precedent that anyone else can use to avoid the consequences of doping. Just claim it was tainted food, no proof needed.

I'm thinking it will be a "not guilty" verdict.
Sucks for Fuyu Li, who was banned two years in 2010, for basically the same amount of clen.

this is what I thought when it first happened. then I read about the amount of clenbuterol he tested positive for, and I read several reports showing many, many countries that have problems with farmers using clenbuterol on their livestock.

it's a real problem.

but even if it were a tainted steak, I have no clue how the man can be given a free pass when others have been nailed to the wall. nearly 2 years after the incident, though, I just can't see him serving a suspension now. my guess- fine and no ban. mockery of the system.

Hopefully not guilty for my own selfish reasons. I love watching the guy ride and don't want to miss him in his prime.

I don't know what the standard of evidence is with the CAS, but his argument seems reasonable to me as a non-scientist, so if the burden of proof is on the CAS in scientifically squashing the tainted meat argument, I think he could get off.

He will be found on a Tour de <whateverhewants> podium, because CAS doesn't have the balls to make a decision.

By the rules it is a zero tolerance substance. It was up to him to avoid it. As mentioned above Fuyu Li was suspended for a very low level of clenbuterol even though meat contaminations are fairly common in China.

But I also think he will get off. For the selfish reason that he generates money for too many people.

Yeah, I guess I did know how it works. I still think zero tolerance anything is usually a good indicator of a rule being stupid, very much so in this case.

CAS might be slow, but if anyone dragged it out it is the Spanish federation, Contador's lawyers, and the UCI.
