Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Race Fit Jerseys?

So I ordered one today (RadioShack) and was wondering how small these ran. I have a Euro-Fit Girodana that is a medium and fits pretty nicely. My chest is 38 inches. I ordered a large. Anyone have experience with these jerseys?

Without knowing the brand of jersey, or who you ordered it from, my bet is that, being a Pro team replica jersey, it's likely cut pretty generously, given that the market for such jerseys is the coffee shop set.

If it's race fit count on it being small. I wear an XL t-shirt, and even some of the XXXL jerseys are snug on me.

If you ordered one of the ones nashbar/performance was selling, I got the impression that they ran a bit tight.

It's the Nike team RadioShack race day jersey. From what I read it isn't a replica but more of the exact jersey they wore.

Race fit is more likely to be similar to your Giordana euro sizing IMO, but as you've already ordered it, it's a bit late for input.

They haven't shipped it yet so I think I can still change it. I know they make a Euro fit and Race fit jerseys. It could be like the Cervelo jerseys where they run a size smaller?

personally I'm a bit surprised you can get into a euro fit medium with a 38" chest, but I would guess that you've bought the correct size (large) in this new jersey.

I wear size L t-shirts. race fit and euro fit both = XL for me.

My Race fit Voler kit jersey fits me well in size large. My chest is bigger than yours, so it I'd guess its fine in the chest. The difference between club fit and race fit generally has more to do with the amount of material in the mid-section than the chest.

Was it this one?

If so, I'd say from the rear view that it's probably more "US sized". If you can change it, I'd wager medium would be better.

I'm not really big/wide, kind of skinny that could be why haha.

Oh I thought it would be more compressed, the guy said they do run a tad small but said I would be Ok with a medium.

really hard to say... as others have noted. someone gave me a nike replica jersey-- it's a maillot jaune, but I wear it anyway, and it's my only 'pro replica'. it's a race fit size L and it's very snug on me through the shoulders, arms and chest.

personally, I'd rather have a little big than too small.

Yeah it was. Hmmm I'll look into to it right now, you might be right. I was thinking about this all night.

Most club fit jerseys I wear a small. I typically order up one size when ordering a race cut jersey.

Yeah they already shipped it so good thing is if it is small I only have to pay to ship the jersey back, they pay for the shipping back to me. Shouldn't be more than 10 bucks.

To my eye, the give away of a club fit is the extended back panel. Race fit jerseys are shorter at the back. Having said all that, I like race fit and don't like extra material bunching up when I'm in the drops.

You tiny people make me sad. I just got the supposed club fit giordanas in XXXL and they're still a bit tight in the chest for me. Gut's not too bad, and I suppose someone might call it a race fit, but I like them a little looser so I don't feel like I'm going to unzip them if I breathe too deep. I guess I am too fat for this sport.

I think I have an 38" chest, but rather thin small torso. I ordered a Craft race cut Leopard Trek jersey in Medium thinking I needed a Small. They aren't kidding when they mean race cut. If I had ordered a Small back then, it would have gone right back. The medium is almost form fitting except in the belly area. Still some bunched up material. I order Small's if they're not race cut (ie. American stuff).

Hmm hopefully I ordered the right one, would hate to return it with the weather we've been having in Toronto. I think all these Race Jerseys are similar to the Garmin Cervelo ones, I saw on their site that you have to order a size up with what you usually wear. I guess that's what both of us did haha.

5'9", 145 and have a 38" chest and typically wear medium race fit stuff, if that helps.

Also, unless you're actually on the team, pro team kit = . In my opinion of course.
