Handle bar and brake options

Right this is probably a post that's been done before but maybe not so I'll try anyway...

I have a canondale badboy which I love but I want to have at least one more hand position, only thing is I am not a fan of bar ends because my hands are too far from the brakes so I am wondering if there is any sort of setup that will allow me to have brakes only handlebars and on the bar ends (or similar, like a cyclo-cross handlebar set up with 2 sets of levers) without 1. Costing a bomb and being a waste of time and 2. Being impractical.

I know a drop bar Conversion is both of those things so any options other than buying a cyclo-cross bike would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any advice

Regards
Woody

There are bar ends which are shaped in the form of a drop bar's outer section.

Also brake cables can be run through a lever and continue to another lever, much like top mount levers are done. Andy

the tube standard in drop (other than center bulge) Straight /MTB 7/8" , road 15/16"..

so the levers off straight bars don't transfer.. you have to replace everything.. to put drop Bars On

I have adopted Figure 8 bend trekking bars, more hand positions, still keep the MTB type brake levers..
An Example: off the web..

Reverse levers on a bullhorn bar with interrupter levers on the flats, maybe? It would be pretty similar to running bar ends with levers both at the end and the flats.

If your existing shifters aren't integrated with brake levers, you'd be able to keep using them. You'd just need to buy the handlebar and brake levers (total around $70) plus consumables like bar tape and brake cables. When shopping, pay attention to bar and stem/shifter/lever clamp diameters to make sure your stuff matches.

Reverse levers look cool, but I think they're begging to hook something.

OP's text was hard to follow
But I think he is asking, how to have brakes on both the handlebar flats, as well as on the bar ends.

something like this?

Ignore the fact that it's a trekking bar, look at the levers, same positions as flatbar with bar ends

I don't know what the extension pieces are called, but guidonnet levers have a similar curve. And they appear to be on sale from Velo Orange -- normally $41, currently $20:

brake lever extensions

no one makes them anymore, but ebay probably has some left over
various brands
(checking)
aside from the 100$+ Paul ChimChims extenders
this thing showed up in the results: MTB,FIXIE BRAKE LEVER W/BAR END EXTENSION GREAT INVENTION FOR ANY BIKE WITH BAR | eBay

But thats for Canti brakes, and your disk brakes are probably Linear Pull, so not compatible

and stay off the 'guidonnet' brake levers
those are for retro french city bikes and whatnot, you know, like on grandma's 3 speed
(also, likely not compatible with your disks)

As long as we're talking Cable actuated, THAT can be sorted by Travel Agents.

Or two sets of interrupter levers, with levers facing each other.

Not exactly the same but close. Adding common bar ends that point forward will get much the same. Andy (taking a couple of minutes of image searching)
