I think the loudest noise I was exposed to was when lightning hit the transformer on the power pole across the street from where I was standing.
I was also near a lightning strike in the desert on my motorcycle but I had a helmet covering my ears. I don't remember that one being nearly as loud.
I had a brake bleeder explode in my face as 2 of us were handling it. It was stunning how loud it was, not to mention having brake fluid blown under my eyelids at high pressure.

This may come as a surprise to some, but I am not a &$% nut. In fact, the occasion cited above may have been the only time I fired a "real" %^*.
In hindsight it would have been nice had the person whose &^* I fired given me a heads up on how loud it was (I believe it was a .357 pistol), but she did not.
I haven't had a proper hearing test, but in general I think mine is OK. The problem is I have spells of ringing in the ears, which can be annoying.

I could see that at the low end, but didn't expect it at the high end, after watching Canyon bikes disappear from the site, from the bottom up. And the shop owner said he had no problem getting parts for the upper end groupsets, but had supply problems with more mundane stuff.

And, speaking of sweet potatoes, they are in season. My favorite food, in the temperate zone. They are different here, but still a treat when in season. I had two for dinner today.

I have tinnitus myself, but I only notice it when I think about it. So,, of course, I'm noticing the hell out of it right now.

I need to find a power solution for the Revolt. I don’t really want Keo cleats on a bike I’m going to ride in the mud and dirt. I had a slow motion crash BITD on SPDs that got packed with dirt and I couldn’t get out of either side before I fell over and would like to avoid a repeat if I can.
for the time being I’ll swap the Vectors, it’s about 3 mins to do, but long term I’d like something more like a MTB shoe on that bike.

The cockpit is about a decade old. The laptop is a 7 year old CAD machine with 4th generation i7 and a Quadro FX GPU. The only games on the computer are; Grand Prix Legends (circa 1998), Il-2 1946 (circa 2006), and Zwift. I don’t remember the last time I used the computer for anything other that Zwift, so I wonder why I keep it there and lug it to the garage almost daily for Zwift.
I do want to try the new generation mid-century flight sims and a racing sim or two with VR, though. Hence the hand wringing over newer GPUs.
Oh god, that's a pet peeve of mine - when people talk away from you or when they talk to you at a time when your hearing is clearly compromised. My wife is always trying to talk to me when I have headphones in or I'm standing over the sink with the water running or the like.

Had a strike right outside the house while I was standing at an open window. I didn’t see the actual glowing plasma or whatever it is, but the light was blinding and the noise was indescribable, if not quite as loud as the starting cannon, at least from where I was.

Wow. I was in the gas station where I worked and when the lightning hit the transformer it exploded and caught fire. The fire dept came by and sprayed water on it and left because the storm had them very busy. After a few minutes the flames popped back up and the pole was on fire for some time before the power company showed up. They were able to put it out but the pole was weakened so they clamped it with a huge boom on a truck to hold it overnight.

Handing me a carbonated fusion beverage would cause me to toss it in the nearest trash can, unopened. Because it calls itself a carbonated fusion beverage.

My dad has bad hearing, and I think my hearing is going as well. If you talk to my wife she would tell you i’m deaf, what she wouldn’t tell you is that she always try’s to have conversations with me when she is on the opposite side of the house. Or when we are in the car she talks to her window instead of looking at me.
But yes, I am deaf.

So I went to area velocipede shoppe and checked on my bike. Unfortunately, the mechanic was not in. But I did see the bike and the white encrusted bars. They've got a lot of encrustment on them, but I think much of it can be cleaned off.
The bars he put on are indeed ones with flat tops. I've never ridden with anything other than round. Are they indeed more comfortable? Put differently (I can't remember if anyone said this), has anyone tried them and not liked them? I could have him take them off, since we didn't discuss this before he did it.
