SAG Commuting...
The recent (or perennial) discussion of "packpacks vs. panniers" led me to the idea of bike commuting with a "Support And Gear" vehicle, just like they use for big long-distance races and support touring.
One could hire a taxi or uber to ferry their bags to and from work...or pay a courrier, perhaps a bicycle courrier, and let them deal with what method works best for transporting gear.
Perhaps a well-trained dog could be used, or one of those robo-mules from Boston Dynamics...four legged variety for paniers, 2-legged variety for backpacks.

I've wondered about using UPS, or DHS or some such, to ship clothes back and forth once a week. We also have a dry cleaning service that picks up and drops off at the office, which is tempting except I can't see how to make the exchange and storage convenient enough. Shipped to the mail room, next to the company gym, that would work. ... if I hadn't already figured out the solution the to "packpacks vs. panniers" question ...

Soon drones will be able to accompany you on your bike commute. They will be able to carry your lunch and clothes, give you a heads up for obstacles, and provide footage of your close calls and accidents.

Better yet, just get a job next door to Wal-Mart (or at Wal-Mart) and buy new clothes every day. If you get a flat on the way in you can walk the rest of the way and buy a new tube, no reason to carry anything with you.

You all are joking, right? This is basically a variation on having a chauffeur.

In a family with both parents working, it’s not hypothetical. We use E-Cart and Door Dash. Will Door Dash bring my dry cleaning? Hmmm

There was a person a while ago talking about a mini tour to visit relatives. It was pointed out that a lot of stress about racks, panniers, and such could be alleviated by simply shipping a change of clothes to the relatives.
I could imagine staging supplies for a long tour, or perhaps giving relatives a couple of extra tires, chains, and boxes ready to drop in the mail. Yes, one could probably pick them up at a LBS, but if one is a bit picky about what one wants, or chooses unique items, then it may be beneficial to simply stage them.
And for some items, double shipping them may still be cheaper than buying at a LBS, not to mention hunting around an unfamiliar town for just the right part.

Self driving car. Drives to work with your clothes. You get your clothes out. It drives back home. Don't even need to pay for parking.
Should patent that "design", I'll be a billionaire very stable genius in no time.

Oh, I could imagine the possibilities of self driving vehicles for bike touring and long distance racing events.
Just have one's Winnebago follow behind. One could have a nice comfy bed to crawl into every night. No tents to pitch. Spare tires, tubes, bikes, etc.
And the advanced version should even be able to whip up a home cooked meal, hot and ready.

Slick little camper trailer...but $10-15K, IIRC.

Seriously; HTFU and trailer your crap in once a week, and trailer the dirty clothes, dishes, etc. home that day. Then you can ride lean the other days.

Yes! A drone that flies just in front of you with an umbrella deployed so you don’t get wet. You could have another with drinks and snacks that swoops in on command. Another to clear your path of those nasty peds. The well-equipped bike commuter will quite possibly need a phalanx of personal drones.

Now your own personal starship to follow you.... that's just fantasy.
Could Scotty even beam your cup of tea into your outstretched hand while you're riding along without burning you?/
But, over the next decade, self driving cars, as well as driving and flying drones will become much more common. Perhaps even commonplace. Also likely more household utility robots (other than robotic vacuum cleaners).
Or, you could have your own personal attack drone take out the competition.

Not sure about drones, but surely we can all have our own R2-D2's (actual numbers specified by user) rolling around behind us. I'm sure they can fit a lot of stuff in those garbage can bodies of theirs...
