First post to the forum.

I bought a used bike and was told:
- it was a 2011 Giant
- handlebars, stem, rims, and triple chain rings are not stock
- was bought from a Giant rep and was possibly a demo bike

I e-mailed Giant the serial number and their response was: "Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately this serial number is not in our records. We will have frame numbers for bikes originally distributed in the United States only. You could bring the bike to a nearby retailer to assist with identification. While the serial number appears to be the same format as our C-Tech Carbon Frames, the format also indicates this frame was manufactured in August, 2004."

- No decals except for "Giant" on the down tube
- Ultegra groupset with no number.
- The defining characteristics to me are the screw in BB, odd shaped chain stays, and internally routed rear brake cable

The bike came with a Fizik A...something saddle. The name is too worn to be sure.

It looks pretty nice in the pictures.

With it having a triple on it, I wonder if someone used it for light touring. I am not experienced enough to say but I think triples are not really thing today but were more common in 2004 . I have an old mountain bike with a triple, and it is from the 1990s.

If the bike has no damage, rides well and fits. I say ride the tar out of it and enjoy it.

I don't think so. 2004 OCR 1 appears to have aluminum frame and the rear brake cable is routed externally.

Is there anywhere where it looks like the carbon has been patched? It looks like it's been stripped and refinished. Very "plain" without any stickers.

Saddle is Aliante, the Antares is muck more aggressive.

Knock off or no-name frame from overseas? Nice bike regardless.

I just went over the entire bike frame with rubbing compound to remove all the scratches. The PO must have been using a green scrubby to wash it. I saw no evidence of repair.

In researching the frame, I was unable to find any Giant 2004 frame with an internally routed rear brake cable.

Anyone know when Giant started routing their cables internally?

Don't confuse the standard alu OCR with the carbon OCR-C series. Same geometry but different material and price range.
Here's a link to a 2005 model. These were top line bikes in their day, now replaced by the Defy series.
Also, a note on the model year, I had a TCR that had the 04 designation in the serial number but it was sold as a 2005 model in Canada.

Here's an OCR-C1 for sale in Ontario with a clear photo of the internal brake cable route. Not sure of the year but I don't think they made them for very long, maybe 2004-2009.

The PO didn't know what he was talking about. Don't care. I still really like the bike!

Yeah, it's a sweet whip. I wish my '08 TCR Advanced was as light-on for graphics; they spoil the badass look of the full 3k finish IMO. Yours doubtless has a nicer ride than mine too; the ISP may be dead sexy, but it's pretty firm.

But I dig how our bikes have external cables and BSA BBs. No nonsense.
