Value of 1971 Peugeot PX-10
A friend sent this photo (sorry, it’s the only one) of what appears to be a 71 PX-10. You can see the black-painted Nervex Professional lugs, chrome on the fork and a bit of the chrome on the rear triangle. There’s also a 531 decal on the fork and an Inoxydable decal on the seat tube. The seat tube’s 531 decal appears to be covered by a local city license sticker. I’m told it’s all original, and from the sole photo, appears to be in pretty nice shape. I know it’s tough to evaluate on a single photo, but what’s the current value of these?

I've seen them go for anywhere from $300 to $1000 depending on condition. The tires on this one look toasted &, it probably needs a complete overhaul. So, I would recommend making as low an offer as possible. It does look complete and original. If it's still got the original wheels they're going to be tubular rims with old "sew up" tires mounted on them. The seat post is slammed all the way down too. So, if it's stuck that could really impact value too. Be good. Have fun.

That's all original right down to the bar tape. The brake hoods look fresh too. Don't see them like that too often. That BrooksiBrooks looksslooks nicely aged. That bike didn't get much use. $200 as it sits. Refurbed with a pair of Vittoria Rally's, $400.

Current value depends a lot on where you are located. I have no idea how bikes are selling in southeast Texas, but in New York City, an average bike is gaining a huge premium right now. Yours would be worth a lot more up there right now.
The PX10 is obviously a coveted bicycle and I'm sure it will attract attention. However, the size of that frame is somewhat of a negative. It is on the smaller side and in my experience, they don't sell nearly as fast. Still, the marque and the condition are positives.
Your highest sale would likely come from eBay, but then there is the hassle of shipping, the fees and the fact that if there is any complaint, you'll lose.
Having said all of that, I wouldn't accept less than $300.00 and it would go up from there, depending. Sorry I can't nail it down any better than that.

These bikes went for around $400-$500 pre Pandemic. This bike will be relatively easy to restore for anyone looking for a vintage bike in that size. It's worth $300-$400 as it sits but it could be a tough sell at that price in a small market.

Very market dependent. Of course you can ship it.

Looks like it has additional "cobblestone proof" pump clips, don't think I have ever seen those before.

Minus - looks like cad plated spokes.
the front derailleur... those are known to crack by just frowning at them. So much so, I would replace it, not worth the sorrow if it breaks while riding.
as stated, needs tires
this size does not come up as often as the larger sizes, the top tube as I recall is 55 cm.
i don’t like that stem either. Yes original but not forged.
$200 is reasonable
seller might want double that,
$300. If I really wanted one that size.

I think you could get $200 for that saddle...... it's in really good shape, and the bike looks like it was stored inside and barely ridden. You got a deal.
Ask the seller if they have the Mafac tool kit... it came with the bike.

Still learning
The small frame size appeals to overseas Japanese collectors. I know because I have sold a small PX-10 and a Grand Record frameset for big money. I would offer it at $700 + shipping.

Someone looking for a PX-10 like the one you acquired would be willing to pay much more than the 200.00 that you paid....full service and a very light wax along with the tubulars makes a great score.
It looks older than the 75 license that is on the seat tube...when did they change the Nervex lugs...maybe a pre 70 PX?
Best, Ben

...back when that PX-10 was sold new, they got sold a lot to people who had never ridden a bike very much, came into a shop, and asked for a "best" bicycle, for not too much money. So while everyone I knew at the time (the unwashed poor) was stuck riding around on lesser bikes like UO-8's, there was this select group of people with trust funds or other inherited privilege who bought these, rode them around, had one flat tyre with tubulars, and stuck them in the attic or over in one corner of the garage, hanging from a hook.
I think I've come upon three of them here with a similar story. The guy wanted to buy a bike, asked for something "really good for the money", walked out the proud owner of a PX-10, ("just like the ones the Peugeot team rides in the Tour",) and then got bored with it pretty quickly. Maybe now it will at least get some miles on it.

...it's not really a complaint exactly. Without those courageous first time buyers of really nice bikes that I couldn't afford back then, I'd have nothing to ride now. #thanks Sadly, a lot of what's going out the door right now from Walmart will probably self destruct before it hangs around long enough to provide used transportation. Still, I remain hopeful.
