Turn that counter clockwise, i.e. unscrewing it. BUT big john may be on to something, so I'd check everything he suggested first.

There’s a local guy who views our club’s Facebook page as his bragging site, posting about every ride and how fast he was. His latest wonders how such power and endurance could “well up” in someone in their 50s. So far I have been able to exercise restraint. So far.

Yep, sounds familiar. My biggest problem is cutting tools, knives, saws, chainsaws...-

It seems I'm the only one who truly appreciates how dumb bicycles are.
I go to a website or mechanical video tutorial to learn how to fix something. Then look at my bicycle.
"wut my bike doesn't look anything like that"
Why not? It's a simple machine. You push the pedal and it turns the wheel. But all these Big Bike companies have to come up with something cute to make their product "special."

I think I need to take the rest of the week off, knee is killing me today too. Pretty sure this is something other than fit, perhaps a sprain or something else. I did feel it tweak a little lifting the dogs into the back of our car Monday night.

Good ride last night, my first Wed Night Ride since March. I'd been out on a couple weekend rides, but the Wed rides are really the much more spirited. My solo riding work is certainly paying off; it felt good to be the guy that brought the hammer.
It almost makes me wonder how such power and endurance could well up in someone in their mid-40s.

Oh, and it was also gratifying to have one slightly miffed teammate say, "you're not supposed to come back lighter AND stronger - that's not fair."

Embrace the opportunity to rest and heal. I learned this lesson with the finger incident. It's a good one to have on hand. You'll be moving soon. Do some prep, if only on paper.

Just had a little jolt. Woke up to a small earthquake at 4:30 so this jolt may have been an aftershock of that. A 70 year old house makes a lot of noise during an earthquake, I've learned.
