I've long been an admirer of Japanese culture. It is admirable that some cultures, having suffered serious adversity, will pick themselves up and in a suprisingly short time are able to lead productive lives. As a young man I even studied judo but like anything else, you have to work very diligently at it to be good. It falls under the category of martial arts but is no more aggressive than basketball. Japanese people are thought to be highly disciplined and reserved - except when they're not. As a fan of Spanish flamenco music, I was very surprised that Japanese have taken to flamenco, which is anything but reserved and no one knows why. There are flamenco clubs and studios scattered around Japan where participants can dress up and learn flamenco dance, guitar and to speak Spanish. Many of the instructors are Spanish Gypsies or Andalusians and there are quite a few.

Flamenco is a folk music with many forms just like American country music has many forms such as Mountain, Western, Piedmont, as well as dance forms. One form is called Bulerias which means mocking or making fun of whatever suits the dancer. Could be the dancer, everyone else in the room, politicos or other self important types. The linked video shows one woman dancer who really cuts loose to the delight of everyone in the room.

I know that. But, whatever alloy it is, my stainless cables in 12 bikes, don't rust. Some brake cables with 10 + thousand miles. Some of my bikes don't get wet often.
Four different bikes had the cable break inside the Brifters, at about 6,000 miles Just like others here. Another one was the old style indexing thumb shifters from the first cheap MTBs. I've left 440c and 304 outside as a test, for a year. The 304 was barely rusted at all. The way I treat my bikes probably is one factor.
I never put a bike away wet, and rarely dirty. I blow off the water, snow, or ice with an air nozzle. If there is ice on anything, I heat the garage to above freezing That does not get the inside of the cables clean though. Especially if there is rust in there.

For me, the demise of basketball courts started well over a decade ago, when they removed the outline of Tennessee from the Thompson-Boling Arena floor, and replaced it with "Tennessee." The reason the powers that be cited was that "it would help with recruiting."

Did 26 miles today (longest ride for me... barely hung in there for the last couple).
I've objectively determined it's not possible for any God fearing human with only one ass to cycle any farther than that.
I failed at my goal of 15 mph average, but there were more stop lights than I'm used to so maybe I would have hit it... who knows? #need a power meter.

Your honestly riding a lot further than I was at this stage. So don’t sweat it, it gets easier.

Do you have any idea what your cadence is on average? I only ask, because I had no Idea what this meant until my first group ride, and it really helped improve my distance, and speed.
Before that first group ride I tended to stay in the highest gears, cranking really hard. I would tire my self out pretty quickly.

Just something to think about.

I have no idea. I was thinking once I get a PM I’d look into it. I did try to increase the cadence today though because my knee would start bothering me around 20 miles on other runs. But on a ride that long, I have no idea how I sustained it over time.

simple bike computer is a quarter the cost of a power meter can provide you with that info.
I use a sigma wireless computer, it’s old but it works.

Edit: recommended cadence is around 90, and I know the first time I tried to hit that I felt ridiculous spinning that fast.
