try running it on partial choke see if it improves. If it does get better it still ha a blockage.
Also, water is a problem with small engines. Drain the fuel completely. Put it in a glass jar and let it settle. Look at the bottom, it will look like a bubble if there's water in it.
The water settles to the bottom and gets sucked into the pick up, but it's to thick to be drawn into the small diameter holes in the carb. So it will settle in the bowl and fowl things up.

I drained the gas and treated with sea foam (which is supposed to clear out water and crud) but no dice. Sad!

Seems Addiction has morphed from a pills & ills thread to a snowblower support group.

The nose of that thing reminds me of that clown truck in Maximum Overdrive. One other question.... Why the exhaust stack behind the sleeper?

Black smoke out the tailpipe equals rich running. Look on Ebay, and grab a 10 dollar carburetor. Sunk float, crud in the needle in seat, ethanol boogered up the innards. Many possible issues.

It just occurred to me that we are being let go 3 hrs. early. Since I arrived here at 7 a.m. intending to knock of my usual 3 p.m. to beat traffic and find parking at home, I should have left at noon. I am going to march into the president's office and demand 2 hr. of comp time.

We had wind and snow overnight. Installed a new o-ring on the snowblower's carb bowl and I got through the driveway and sidewalks, but it's still going through periods of running rough and bogging a bit when moving lots of snow. What gives? Did I just do a **** job of cleaning the carb or should I check elsewhere?

One is supposed to drain the gas out before putting it away for the season. Some of the newer needle valves are aluminum instead of brass. They corrode quickly if there is water around. Take it apart and look at the needle valve if you can.

I expect she will still perform. Those marching band kids are scrappy, kinda like cyclists. They will put up with a decent amount of suffering.

Not that I'm aware of.
Choke does the job to get it started, but once it's started, partial choke will kill it.
Yes.

My mower's running pretty good. Doesn't start as easily as it does when it's really happy, so might need to clean the holes in that little doohickie in the float bowl.

If it starts and runs well for a minute or two, then dies, that is a fuel delivery issue, sticking float or needle. Also check the fuel line for restriction too.

It runs OK once it starts, just doesn't fire right up like it used to. Have a feeling it's running lean the whole time, thus making starting difficult. Gonna put off work 'til xmas, though. New plug, clean air filter, etc.

And a near bonk 18 km in. It's getting to be a wintertime habit. Mild weather, low humidity, tooling along a leisurely pace, and my body becomes salt starved very quickly. I ate a banana as I walked out the door. It happened last Winter. I bought and ate a pack of cookies; then another, and was ready to make the call of shame. Bought a bag of chips and ate it, and rode home feeling good. Today I went for the chips first.
