Spent most of yesterday flying to Reno for our first two week stay in the new-to-us time share at Lake Tahoe. So far we are in love with the apartment. So nice. So functional. Nice people running the place. First hike of the trip today. The Tahoe Rim Trail for a few miles south from the summit of Mount Rose. You may remember that the Mount Rose Highway was Greg Lemond’s favorite training route when he was a teen living in Reno. We park on the side of the highway right near the summit at ~9000 feet and just walk into the trail from there.. Stay tuned.

The shop's new Specialized rep. was in this week. He asked everyone about their personal bikes. I won.

Handwringing can later develop into fretting if your handwringing results in a frameset purchase that you wait to build up for six months as you accumulate the right parts only to discover it is a 54 and not a 56.

It's going to be 100 and we're headed out to rent skis for the season for my son. Good stuff is the first to go.

Just fixed the toilet on the boat (yuck) and did assorted other tasks in preparation for 2 weeks of cruising, starting next weekend. Waiting for a buddy, who is also my rigger, and his GF to show up and if there’s any breeze, we’ll go for an afternoon sail.

Yay!one of my handbuilt guitars finally made it to the stage.... of 12 year olds. But that still counts right? Right?
Yes, the “stage” was a brewery.

Did some digging and found what I wanted to begin with. Arrives at store in a week.
Note the massive sales tax rate.

As I was toweling off from my post-ride shower, I paused to admire the fidelity and longevity of a temporary tattoo that I'd put on at the Fair on Wednesday. It was then that I remembered that a group of 20-something-year-old girls were there applying tattoos at the same time, and one of them put one on her neck.

So after several hours of frustration including borrowing my neighbor's side grinder and a trip to Home Depot, I was able to finish the split-flange repair of my daughter's broken exhaust system.
I am not sure it was really worth the hassle. Maybe. I estimate that I spent about 5 hours of effing around to save $500ish in repairs. I suppose $100/hr is not bad, as it's a lot more than I make as a physician.

I get to go put a new starter in my sister's Subaru tomorrow. Looks like it should be a pretty easy one.

Makes driving to a state with no sales tax almost worthy of consideration. We are only 35 mins drive to Delaware so many people buying big ticket items (like a big screen TV) go there to save a few bucks. You can’t do that for a car, though, as you have to pay PA tax to get the car registered/titled in PA.

Kudos. It gets my approval for the rim brakes and the 105 (big fan). Yes, it has brifters.....I actually enjoyed using brifters for the brief period I had them.

TT was brutal. Legs weren't ready, but it was totally weird. I was 2 watts less than 3 years ago, each power zone was nearly identical in percent, and I was a minute slower. Weird, but it is what it is. Not my favorite discipline. The Road race started at 45 degrees, and humid. Glad I turfed all my arm warmers and stuff, because I didn't miss them by the first hill. I need about 20 more watts to compete with the hill specialists, and Cat 1's. 11th in GC, but the crit is filled with non crit racers, and we're also racing with the 50+123 bunch. It'll be fun.
