Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's festive drink season!

Tonight's treat:

Hot cocoa with a shot of decaf and a shot of Fireball.

Need to go get some Akvavit soon. Fireball is kinda nasty, but the little lady requested some. I got a 10-pack of 'em but she's only had one in the past 2 weeks.

We did hot unpasteurized cider with cinnamon, fireball and goslings not too long ago.

All of my bikes live in the garage. It absolutely kills me to see them develop surface rust from the humidity, but there's nowhere else for them to go

I need a marking knife. I'm currently alternating between a ground down paddle bit and a utility knife

Wahoo is going to send me a new resistance assembly for the Kickr so I don't have to return the unit.

LSS wants me to buy an Elite Tuo to keep in reserve.

I got a pretty simple Japanese-style marking knife with a blue steel edge laminated to a softer steel backing. Great, 'specially for 15 bucks -

In 1974 I worked as a mechanic, body repair, lot attendant, flunkie for a used car lot. He paid me $90 per week cash, under the table plus he made lunch every day.
I was the only employee and he never told me his last name. He kept about 25 or 30 one gallon anti freeze bottles filled with gasoline in a wood bin next to the office, which was an old house. When someone bought a car, I would put one gallon of gas in the tank so they could get off the lot.

I was routinely appalled at how he screwed his customers and his attitude toward everyone in general. I quit after a few months.
