Not at all.
I just am direct or call a spade, a spade.
It just seems that the stereotypical mad behaviour around here is driven by Americans, that's all. It is was the Fahrradpolizei demanding to see my Führerschein while riding a bike in Frankfurt I would make fun of Germans.
N.B. I have done just that on these forums.

Have you ever been here? Why don't you come visit and interact with real people, friend. I think you'll find it's a much better way to develop an opinion about a culture than by judging us on 1 internet post about a guy getting instant karma.
On that note, the only person in this thread who was there is the OP. He said the other cyclist was being a doofus and got what was coming to him. Maybe he was. Maybe he wasn't. But this thread has ONE witness. No one else is qualified to say what did or did not happen or what flat tires were or were not deserved.

As to the reason for my "jealous" comment, I am on a recumbent bike. I get comments all the time from diamond frame riders that they envy the confort that I ride on every day. I don't have a saddle up my bum. I don't get saddle sores. I have no worries about ever going impotent from riding too much. Not only am I more comfortable on my home made recumbent bike, but I am also faster than most other commuters. There is plenty for people to envy and like I said, I get comments about it all the time. Before I built my bike, I was jealous of recumbent bikes which is why I built one. If I were materialistic, I would be riding my carbon fiber bike instead.

Yes, in fact, I just brought my research group and we did some cycling in Manhattan (standard asian style mega city), Ithaca, NY (quaint), Pittsburgh (very impressive) and Columbus, OH (way beyond our expectations, very LGBTQ+ friendly which was nice for one of my students.) Nice quick 10-day trip.

We're good people. Stereotyping is wrong for a reason. It tends to be inaccurate.

I can't actually hear the "bark" on my computer at work. We are too cheap to have any kind of sound. I wonder if he was making a noise because he had the flat? Or perhaps it was a surprised sound since you were riding some kind of contraption that doesn't really resemble a bicycle. I always make some kind of a noise when I see a non-bike going down the road or path.

I didn't say that you weren't good people. I said that Americans are stereotypically materialistic based on the capitalistic system. The OP demonstrated that the "jealous" commentary was due to (s)he welding their own bike together, which I am OK with.

I just turned the sound up and heard it. That’s the sound a tire makes as its going flat. The guy probably thinks you were mocking him.

This thread is a riot, I don't know whether to take it upright or lying down!

It sounds like you're actually "jealous" of his customized DIY square-tubed recumbent. I'm a little, but I wouldn't bark about it.

Well, this thread is a bit, um, underwhelming.
So, an example of instant karma. I was passed too close on a ride one night by a sedan. I reached out and swatted his mirror and screamed out at him.
I made my right turn about 50 feet after that and proceeded up the next street. When I look in my mirror and who do I see? Mr. Close Passer. He must have done a U turn and came back to this street to 'teach me a lesson'. He hung on my rear like glue for several blocks despite my waving him on to pass. It was a residential street with parked cars on both sides and it would be tough to pass another car. Mr. Close passer must have been concentrating solely on me. As we weaved around a couple of parked cars he failed to notice the car coming from the other direction. They both clipped each other. I managed to see the bumper and grill smash on his left side and both cars jerk to the side a bit. I never stopped. I wasn't part of the accident and as much as I wanted Mr. close passer to get into even MORE trouble I just didn't care. Karma had been served.

Bent rider passes normal bike. Normal rider farts/coughs/sneezes/barks/blows a tire/whatever and scares the crap out of bent rider. Bent rider gets all bent out of shape. Normal rider gets a flat tire. Where’s the instant karma?

I suppose if the DF rider made a rude noise, the OP would be justified in thinking the flat was instant karma. If it was just a tire going flat really quickly, then no. But as a mod, I can't believe the sniping in this thread, commuting used to be a lot nicer.

I imagine on another forum the other guy is *****ing about his crappy commute in the rain where he got a flat and a recumbent rider yelled something at him that he couldn't quite make out and then rode off without even offering to help.
There is always at least two sides to every story.
