Locked out Shocks
I didn’t receive any correspondence from my thread in the mechanical board so I’m going to try my look here.
I have a SR Suntour XCM with a lockout switch, but somehow the forks are locked and the switch won’t release them.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I'd say to unlock it and get it working again, you're gonna need a special tool...
---
Not to worry squidie, you gotta be loose and relaxed on the trails. I've had my share of falls and crashes, I've learned to leave my sense of humour permanently switched-on to save time.
So... fork is stuck up or down?
If up, it could be the damper hydraulics (a blocked valve or shim stack)... if down, probably the same, but could also be a chamber leak or seal failure (if air fork)... or collapsed elastomer, or somebody pinched your coil springs for spare parts!
Sometimes a fork would also seize if water or dirt (or both) got through the seals and corroded the slider bushings if unused for some time.
Give us a bit more info, and we'll see if we can help you out...

To save you some time, OP...look into getting a Rockshox Tora. It's probably the cheapest fork on the market that can still be called a suspension fork. It's plenty smooth enough to make some bumps dissapear, and will (should) last a long time.
Of all the forks I've owned, I had the least trouble with that one.
The Suntour line of forks are pretty-much total crap. Don't waste your time on it.
A brand new Tora at say...Jensonusa.com is around $200, but I'm quite confident you could pick up a used one for 1/2 that.

It’s locked-up. The shocks have no downward travel, if they are knackered then I’ll put it on a warranty claim since the bike is not even two months old.

It's probably the bitumen-keeper on the secondary viscous niblet shaft that has siezed. The escutcheon pins on the XCM are notorious for rotating ¼-turn and the snapping into the Rowley detent on the primary shaft. That detent is an open-normal detent, meaning, it is not suuposed to apply any detent action on the secondary shaft. When it acts up, it shuts off the growser port and does not let the fluid flow freely through the gate valves.
It will probably need a new metering rod and clutch shot assembly, which should be available through any dealer that carries SR Suntour-equipped bikes.

I think I've found the original technical bulletin on that particular item.

Anything that froks up on your 2month old frok...should go back to Mr. Suntour himself, Warren Tea.
He'll take good care of you.

New and 2 months old, definitely warranty claim! Don't even bother trying to fix it, it should be repaired or replaced by the people you bought the bike from. If you can upgrade to a Rockshox Tora it would be well worth it.

Hey
I'm in the same situation and I am trying to replace the assembly however the actual pin/spindle is stuck. The wee wheel came off but I can't pull the pin out. Any advice please 🙏

1. contact manufacturer
2. read manual
ok... the boring part is done
So, the lockout is stuck.
Is this using a remote cable and lever? remove the cable and see if that helps. The cable and/or lever might be jammed or too tight and preventing the lockout from releasing all or some of the time.
No remote? the knob might be out of position.
Neither work?
Might be internal. That's a warranty problem.
Out of warranty?
Congrats! You get a new fork!
