'Till now my precautions have consisted of maintaining distance from people and regular hand washing. Today I went to the drive-thru window of Walgreens pharmacy to buy some face masks but was informed they were out. Fortunately Ace hardware had some which seems backwards to me.
This whole situation reminds me of the lame FEMA response to Katrina . I remember the FEMA head declaring at a press conference how pleased he was at the response while people in New Orleans and other places were clinging to roof tops. This guy was so incompetent he was replaced within a few days. The current response is about at that same level of competency.

Occasionally I turn my phone sideways and can't find the control panel at the bottom. The response time to realizing it's on top now is not decreasing.
Reminds me of the first time I ever saw a rotating screen on a cell phone.

No, no, no, no. Get the product at half price or else you rat her out.

Went food shopping. It was 65 and older until 1100, but the corporal at the front let me in anyway. I asked her whether, given the apparent vulnerability of men, it shouldn't be just guys until 1000. I was indulged with a tolerant smile and a "yeah, right." Stock wasn't too bad, with the exception of the main hoarding items and chicken, for some reason. The people density was low, no one looked acutely ill, and we'll know in 7 days whether I got out without getting infected.

To get out of the house (two weeks today) and go to a place she loves, my wife is going to Costco with mask and gloves.

Costco does it right. Wait in line, one out, one in. No crowd, and plenty of room for those strip mine dump truck sized shopping carts.

Right now grocery stores are a hard avoid for me. Ugh lines, people too close, questionable whether they’ll have what you need.
This morning we picked up a pantry order from a local restaurant: bananas, white sugar, Swiss cheese, maple syrup, and of course... buttermilk.
Mr H got upsold on two beef filets. He went to pick up the order and they asked, “Hey was it your wife who was looking for some beef filets? We thought we were out but we do have some after all.” Lol he didn’t know but thought if they were scarce it would be smart to get a few. So $16 later we are the proud owners of two filets. #worsethingshavehappened

Is that like quid pro quo or something, or just plain coercion? Asking for a friend.
