Thanks all! She’s happy and healthy and surprisingly low maintenance so far, although I’m sure that will change. I followed the advice of @ksryder and found a Cyclops Magnus on FB marketplace locally for half the price of a new one, will pick it up Sunday assuming things work out. Hopefully it makes the trainer a bit more engaging.

Yep. My phone has been sending me alerts the last few days but we usually peak around September 1st. Part of my problem is a specific allergy to lawn grass, both breathing and skin contact. If I ride by a golf course during the dry time of the year and they're mowing and creating grass dust clouds, I just about die until I get a few miles down the road.

If you want/need to get out of the house and see some friends, offering to take the child with you while your wife stays at home is an almost 100% effective Get Out of Jail Free card. Hell, I'd even go so far as to say that it's a win/win that your wife will thank you for and it's often not that much work (IME, just putting them in the car for the drive to wherever will put them to sleep at this age - she might not even wake back up while you're out).

Speaking of, you came to mind last night when I was thinking about my social engagements for the week. You already know that I'm not terribly fond of giving parenting advice, but this doesn't count - it's less parenting advice and more advice for someone that's a parent. Anyway, here it is:

We drove off under sunny skies and returned through torrential rain an hour and a half later. Must be the season.

Question- what’s the cheapest smart trainer that allows Zwift to control resistance? Direct drive trainers seem to cost more than my bike. If I understand correctly, the Kinetic Road Machine is a “smart trainer” in that it sends speed/power data via BT, but only the $200 pricier “road machine control” version is variable resistance, right? Any cheaper options?
Reason I’m asking is because we had a little baby girl 4 days ago and wifey was kind enough to let me get out for a couple rides, but in general a trainer will be more dependable for quick workouts.

We are without power, except for one or two circuits, for the duration of the evening. Tomorrow the electrician and I will run new copper cable underground, to replace the old and corroding aluminum cable installed by the first electrician, five years ago. You know him, the one who was more interested in stuffing his pockets than in doing a proper job. This afternoon we bought 100 meters of #6 , and 100 meters of #8 copper cable, a new 100A breaker and a new box for it. A little over $300. Not terrible. The old cable will be left where it is, and will be bypassed by the new. Exactly the way I used to deal with mysterious electrical problems in my personal vehicles in days of yore. Soon I will need to find a place to plug in this laptop.
