Ive had a big week for this time of year and its also been windy and more hills than normal. Im going to ride today and tomorrow while the weather holds, but the rest of next week looks like a crapshoot.
I need the forced time off.

I thought, since Park has made the same truing stand for decades, that I could economize by buying a used one on Ebay. HA! Because Park has made the same truing stand for decades, the old ones are not obsolete! And therefore are 90% as expensive as the new ones.

My wife is heading north in a few weeks, with two free checked bags. I hope to send the Trek 930 frameset in one of them. That will put me down to just two road bikes and just four altogether. I will also include some saddles; things to sell when I arrive later in the summer. I will be rich in wheels for the first time in memory.

I didn't believe in spoke clicks until I rode through mud puddles with bladed spokes. Bingo! It was a little shower of clicks whenever I got out of the saddle or otherwise loaded up the drivetrain.

Ah, now, see, those are data I don't have either - I don't ride with anyone else. In fact, last Sunday I rode the Circuit without the Garmin, using only the Strava app on my phone, so I don't even have all that much data on ME, let alone compared to anyone else.

Yeah, but it lacks reproducibility. You ever have those days when you feel like crap, and you ride, and on the ride you feel like you're just going through the motions, and you figure it's probably your slowest ride this month, but then when you look on Strava it's actually your FASTEST ride in a while and you have oodles of palmares? Happens to me all the time.
Perhaps I need it recalibrated?

Ten years of camping in the desert on dirt bike trips plus beach camping with friends. Sick of tents and freezing on the ground. One time a friend offered to let me sleep in his motorhome because his wife wasn't coming on the trip. Slept like a baby with one blanket and it was cold enough outside to freeze a huge puddle 8 or 10 inches deep. I was sold.
I bought a small camper and got a propane heater and we were sitting in it the night before a ride and my friend had put a 6 pack outside to keep cold but they started freezing before he drank them all. I never wanted to be in a tent again.
When I was married to my ex I bought a cabover camper and an old truck to carry it. We had some great times with that thing. Mountain bike trips to Lake Tahoe were our favorite. The current Mrs. John hated it, so I sold it.
So I guess if I wanted to sleep out now I would be relegated to a tent. Don't have one now, however.
