Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Our favorite haunt while in Marblehead makes an excellent dark and stormy, it’s basically the town drink. We always have Gosling’s on hand too.

I like those proportions, and right about the rum, nothing else will do, but for authenticity, it must be Barritt's ginger beer. After the finish of any race in Bermuda, the first Dark and Stormy is drunk while motoring from the finish to the club in Hamilton and it's really nice if the boat has a good fridge.

The D & S is the national drink of Bermuda. Bundaberg is antipodean rotgut, pure and simple.

See top post. There is only one way to make a Dark and Stormy, although no bartender is going to give you LOP's proportions.

Prefer my rum straight on the rocks (preferably one rock). And, none of that clear stuff or stuff that comes in a "handle."

One of our good friends/neighbors within the condo in Brooklyn was Jamaican and would bring out a nice and expensive bottle of rum for straight sippin' on occasion. Very tasty stuff.

There's rum to mix, and there's rum to sip, and then there's rum to use for cleaning engine parts.

Shorts and a T-shirt for my evening activity. I went by a house that had a lit Christmas tree in the front room.

If that's too exotic, take some cauliflower and/or broccoli, cut into bite sized pieces sprinkle with olive oil and a smidge of salt and put under broiler. Heat until they start to turn a little black (about 4-5 minutes). If daring, add some crushed garlic.

You're welcome.
