Wow, that looks like so much fun! It would be great if someone got together a tweed ride in Seattle, but maybe it wouldn't be out of the question to make it down to Portland for this event in the future.

I so wish I could have been there for that... it looks like their first tweed ride was quite the smashing sucsess despite the weather not being all it could be.

The best thing about any ride is hanging out with one's friends and making new ones.

Looks like fun. That looks like a good reason to wear one of my grandfathers old tweed suits and ride my Raleigh Sports around....

I have several tweed jackets and a tweed cap. I have an enormous 1910 style moustache, and I could take out my 1966 English three-speed. I assume one is coming to NYC eventually, and I'll make my best effort to be there.

Looks like the Portland area lives up to the hype.

What's going on here?

A counter rotating sprocket?

I've read about setups where you pedal normally for one gear and pedal in reverse for another gear. This may be one of those.

Is anyone else surprised to learn that this is Portland's first tweed ride? Or is it the first one this year?

It's a retro-direct system, which has two freewheels that work in opposite directions, when you pedal forward you engage high gear, when you pedal backwards, high gear free wheels, and you engage low gear.

I have a tweed jacket, tweed cap, and a 1966 3-speed with all original parts. All I need is the occasion. Gotta see if NYC or NJ has one of these.

Me on my 72 PR-10, my GF on my 68 UO-18

Sexy brake levers right?

Centurion and aforementioned Gazelle

Lots of old Raleighs in the midst

Maybe my favorite bike of the ride, this old rudge.

The truss bike that won, most period specific. (matthew cobbled this together the few days before the ride)

I've seen pics of these elsewhere but this is the first that ive seen in person

This is an awesome ride! I hope somebody in Montréal will see this thread and organize a "Tweed Ride" like this!

And this is a sexy ride at same time, girls are gorgeous!
