**** ... zipper on backpack is busted .. golly

on my venerable Arc'teryx Spear 20

We had a german in-laws (ugh!) weekend and they gave me **** has a 6-year-old bag would have a zipper busted on it ... and we calculated (over many Hungarian schnapps) that 6 years of usage is about 6 x 300 days of use = 1800 days with between 3 and 5 zips per day ... so between 5400 and 9000 zips on the pouch where the keys go ...

IS THAT OK?

Arc'teryx will fix it for free ... however, I don't want to be without for 1 months with shipping to CA and back with the fix ... should I get it fixed locally without he waterproof zip

ugh ... what a problem :/

Looks like the cut on my tire. How about filling in some shoe goo or super glue as several people advised re the tire? Or glue a piece of waterproof fabric?

(p.s. I bought sailcloth and cement for my tire cut, both unused, could offer to you )

Try a luggage or shoe repair place... if that’s within your ascetic aesthetic. See if the price is worth the shortcut. Waterproof zippers aren’t proprietary but they might not be a stock item.

I'd ship it back to the company, they'd fix it up right. In the meantime depending on finances borrow one, buy a cheapo at a discount/ thrift store, or best yet buy another good quality pack. Never hurts to have more than one.
