It was 1974.

Depends who you ask. There is printed documentation that states a 'Type E' has 73 X 73 geometry.

Then what officially denotes the steeper geometry? Or is it another mystery that the men at Peugeot left for us to figure out?

I wish mine were blue, 2 PX-10 framesets just finished in ebay. A white with fancy lugs went for $163 while a nearly identical blue one with plain lugs went for $432. Not bad for just the frameset!

I saw a red one on the Denver CL a few years back. That one still haunts me as it was cheap and I was first in line but never followed through.

Red PX10's? - We don't need no stinkin' RED PX10's.

Pheh -They're a dime a dozen....

(Or $549 currently at RoadRunner bikes - I don't see the inoxydable label on it however. Maybe they realized these can rust by around 1977?)

Well, some its denoted by 'E' but does that mean you can throw an 'E' onto any random bike if it has steep geomemtery? I think its the mysytery men at Peugeot f'ck with us.

Henri "Lets used fancy Nervex lugs and steep geometry"
Ricard "What will we call this new model"
Henri "we're not going to calling it anything"

To resurrect an old thread-drift, why in bloody hell did Peugeot not see fit to print model names on the bikes?

As requested. Are you saying I've been riding a PX-10 all these years and never knew it??

Oh wait, the rear dropouts are at the other end. Never mind.

Can somebody just post the 20 questions guide to identifying a PX-10 and sticky it?

On my ride yesterday, I caught up with a fellow on a white 70s'ish Peugeot (making an awful clunking sound on every stroke), and I saw the chrome fork ends and non-aztec lugs... as one half of my brain was trying to put together the list of things I should look for, the other half of my brain decided it wasn't worth the grief and dropped the guy.

So, on the topic of colors, are white and blue the only the colors PX-10s were offered in during the early '70s? I'm restoring an early '70s (plain lugged) PX-10 and am debating whether to do it in a color other than white while keeping it somewhat period-correct. Haven't seen the blue in person though.

As far as I can tell they were available in all colors but mostly were white followed by blue.

I don't know what colors they were offered in, but when I saw Grand Bois' black one it made the respray decision on mine a no brainer(can you imagine any one with a brain taking on a French bike project?)

Nah. The person who dreamt up the serial number scheme was the master head-game player at the factory.
