Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

40 miles on Saturday with a couple of buds.
50 miles yesterday, alone, in 15mph head winds. Has left me a bit sore today.
. Took the new bike.... Love it! And I'm not hating the Maxis Detonator tires. They ride nice and roll easy.

Damn it. For some reason, I can't invite datlas to the club so that I can make him an admin and then wash my hands of it.

So, the ride with the new chain was quiet and smooth, pretty much like the previous ride with the new-out-of-the-box chain, though a smidge more noisy the first 20 minutes or so. Lots of salt/sand on the roads, mostly dry, but a plenty of puddles and wet spots. Post-ride, the chain was mostly clean to the touch - running a paper towel over it shows little black flecks, but we're talking 1% of what would normally come off of the chain when greased/oiled. The cassette has a little bit of wax on it, but nothing to fuss over; the bigger cogs actually look worse in the pic than they do IRL.

Do we have a new Addiction club? I haven’t kept up.

Edit: I just went to Strava and saw the invite. Cool!

As of two hours or so ago. Some wanted an invite-only club because of some of the unknowns that have joined and are sullying the leaderboards (and for privacy concerns with creepers). You should have gotten an invite, but the invite function seems to be wonkity.

Día de la Mujer Internacional.
Costco can't even get it together to pick up the phone. They must be scrambling in there. The plumber was over earlier, having gone to Merida for parts. He said the roads were empty of traffic.
