Just finished up a 10,500+ mile perimeter tour of the US. Left Massachusetts May 9, 2022 and got back home March 23, 2023. Published my journal of the whole tour and it's available on Bookbaby.com and Amazon under the title "Keep the Lonely Places Lonely. Did it on my trusty and beautiful Bombtrack Hook EXT-C, a 1x gravel bike with a 38 tooth chainring and 10-42 cassette. Ran all Apidura and Tailfin bags, and they were flawless. Was an amazing and incredible journey. America is truly a beautiful and special place.

2023 Upgrades

Swapped out my old Timbuktu seat bag for a Carradice Nelson Longflap - so much easier to pack and no tail wag. Also added an eoGear Stash bag so I could free up room in my front bag. I had the need to carry a pair sandals that gave my feet more arch support this year for my bike tour (St. Cloud, MN to Bemidji and over to the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Itasca SP) so needed to make some adjustments. Bike and gear currently weigh 5 pounds more than last year's setup but the rider is about 10+ pounds lighter than last year.

Almost done

Hello everyone my names Anthony, glad to become a member here finally.
I've been dreaming of heading out for a long tour for years. I'm sure I'll be taking it slowly at first till I get comfortable being on the road for extended periods of time. Most of my previous cycling experience came from bmx, as a kid then mountain biking, on to road group rides with carbon bikes. I've been using this bike for local rides with some shopping mixed in . Very comfortable, I had a Marin Four Corners before the Bridge Club, very happy with switch. The Four Corners was a great bike but I've spent enough time with drop bars. I wanted a more relaxed fit, and Bridge Club fits the bill perfectly.

Nice setup

I put wider "adventure bars" on the bike. It feels much better than the ones it came with. The rear rack will have a sleep pad and tent poles on it Friday.
Looking good

When my kids still fit in the trailer, it never failed to put them to sleep within 20 minutes of starting out. But I wonder if that means no sleep at bedtime for the kiddo 🦉.

Why not lowriders with a small bag that sits on top of the rack instead of way up on the bars?
Just like you said, it cancels out. Using low riders allows the rider to use a larger handlebar bag.. I put my stove and cookware in the bottom of some saggy from panniers then I can carry stuff on the handlebars. A solar panel as an example..
