Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I pulled the pump out and went to a Harbor Freight to pick up a multimeter. I checked for continuity, certain that it was an open loop.... and it wasn't. It was showing resistance.

Went back, connected the electrical leads without reinstalling (so that I could see the impeller), fired up the washer and... ******g pump starts spinning. Damn. It's good, so I've gotta look elsewhere.

Check all of the hoses for a clog - nothing. Did I miss some debris when I was taking it apart? Maybe. Put it all back together. Fill it. Drain it. Nope, still not draining.

Since I can't think of anything better to do, I decide to remove the pump again, while leaving the electrical leads attached... so that I can start a cycle and stick something in the spinning impeller.

Turns out that the slightest touch stops the impeller dead in its tracks - it's a bad pump after all! It's a bad pump after all! It's a bad pump after all - it's a bad, bad pump.
But is it a naughty pump?

It's looking like we might not get much of a cool season this year. Maybe ever.
I have a chiropractor/osteopath appointment Monday morning. US$18

Did you buy the multimeter, or just check it in the store?

Bought it - like everything at HF, it was cheap.

The main reason that I brought the pump with me is because HF is about 25 miles away and a parts store, another 15 miles beyond HF, had the pumps in stock. I was expecting that the pump would check out bad and that I'd drive down the road and pick up a replacement. That it tested good threw me for a loop.

That naughty pump.

Yep. Intermittent, or weird stuff like that is a pita. Imagine the same issue with a new part? Enough to grey your hair and question your sanity. -Never Ever Worked- Parts, even dealer parts, are crap now.

Wouldn't be in court if there was enough water to go around. Anyway, I applaud Georgia for raising water prices. Hopefully it will double your water bill.
