How long before tour do you stop training?

I am leaving for a ride from SF to LA. My original departure date was Monday, but it has been pushed back to Wednesday. I took my last training ride on Thursday. Now that I won't be starting until Wednesday, I was wondering if I should take one more training ride, just to stay in the groove.

Thus, the question at the top of this post.

Nope.

You should probably have intentionally tapered a bit before you go. That way you start out fresh. It's not like you lose your fitness in 48 hours... more like 2 weeks.

No, I don't at all think it's necessary to do another training ride. For example, the last two weeks before the start of my last tour was so nuts that I may only rode once during those two weeks. I still felt pretty good starting the tour, with no real problems.

Have a great tour!

It depends, what are you calling a training ride?

In 6 days, I rode 4 times. Total mileage was 170 miles fully loaded. The daily total was 35, 35, a day off, 54, a day off, 47.
