Neat looking set of GB brakes. They function better than the stock steel calipers? It looks like they're a step up.

Certainly chunky things. As I get familiar with the bike I'll post my impressions.
Edit:
What is nice about this bike is the 'Carmine Red' usually fades badly. Not here, which indicates it's been dry stored and out of the Sun's UV. Barely a ding anywhere.
The 'Anniversary' head badge dates it to between 1965/1968. The hub will tell.
Another survivor.
I understand they were issued in Green, Red, Blue and Gold.

6.5hr trip to collect this bike!
It's been years since I drove for that long into unfamiliar territory.
It's plain to me that this country can't afford the road network it already has; even the major routs have massive pot holes now, it's appalling and never used to be this way.
Finding ones way around provincial ancient market towns which have zero signage to help is no joke.
Find someone on foot to ask directions revealed that I was in a district with a lot of Eastern European immigrants with no language skills and are a lot further from home than me and just as lost!
Back to my purchase.... the big highlight is photographs on ebay are very complimentary.
In the flesh the bike is a bit crusty but what corrosion there is, is very superficial.
Looking at the worn out pedals and the cheap tyres, the bike has obviously had been well used, yet there's barely a scratch to be found.
The paint and chrome just needs a little tlc.
A full re-commission strip-down and lube job is required as it hasn't been used for a long time.
Here's the breaker....it's a 23inch frame and probably too big for me!
Never occurred to me to ask. Doh!

We have an Ural/Royal Enfield dealer not far from our house. Fun shop to visit - just like a C&V bicycle shop except everything is modern (at least in actual age - design tech is somewhat older).

Very quickly adopted heated grips, heated gloves and heated jacket. The cylinders heated my feet!
The biggest problem was visibility.

I posted this in the December thread and emphasized there that I don't need the bike, my last score from the old co-op's junk pile, so I'm also mentioning here that it's taking up space. If anyone wants to swing by and pick it up, please feel free to do so. I gave away a newer and nicer one to a niece so I hope someone can use this one. No time for me to work on it; I have two more in my size that need attention in addition to multiple other wheeled and non-wheeled projects. PM to pursue this.

An Odd Issue
My favourite bike, the Bitsa had an unusual problem last week
I was casually riding home when the back wheel "locked up".
That is to say it wouldn't free wheel backwards. I was literally 1\2 a block
from home and when I got there flicked the trigger from 2nd to 3rd where it also locked in place.
I call it a Bitsa as it was assembled from a variety of parts on hand including a 70's Glider frame with the rear wheel running a 61 hub.,
Up until this point 100% reliable.
I'm away at the moment but will open it up when I get back.
For some reason I suspect the axle key may have failed.

Back in the 1980's I weekly commuted from Yorkshire to London (186 miles each way) every week for 10 years on various BMW's at constant high speeds.
I can honestly say I felt no benefit at all using such Elephant Bags.

After that date, SA changed the L/H ball cup/low gear ratchet to incorporate an extension that fouls the 5-speed internal."
Methinks an FW should stand in for an S5 just fine.
