So far, a router and router table have shown up. Vertical/horizontal laser level, too. Smoothing plane will arrive in a couple days, as will some parallel clamps. Drill press in about a week. Saw/work station soon thereafter.
Tools are fun.

Glad someone got it.
I know he does a lot of good for communities (there is one of his housing places not that far from me), but I don't like his music. As Denis Leary once quipped: "Stevie Ray Vaughn is dead and we can't get Bon Jovi near a helicopter."

Was it LesterOfPuppets that needed to upgrade his EOL Win7? I saw this article the other day but kept forgetting to post it - https://hothardware.com/news/microso...ws-10-upgrades

Wow! You prolly got a plunge router. I use a Craftsman from 1980. Good enough for who it's for. Will you also get a trim router? I understand they are very handy, and would spring for one myself, if I did more woodworking. I almost envy you being young enough to enjoy it for a very long time. But not quite. Enjoy!

I was taking that M drug that I cannot spell or pronounce. Even got an injection after being admitted. But nothing after discharge, which happened last night. So far so good.
In other news, my roommate was an elderly yet pretty spry Italian fellow. He apparently had been suffering from so-called "panic attacks" for decades. What he really needed was a simple ablation. He had one before I was admitted. Before he left last evening a doctor visited him and told him there was less than a 2% chance of his problem returning. She also told him she had no idea why he had not been offered the treatment decades ago instead of being diagnosed with panic attacks. I felt really bad for the guy, but also happy for the success.

Regarding your roommate, I am guessing he had an ablation for SVT*. It’s only been in the past decade or so that the technology has matured enough that this is done frequently. It’s also possible his doctor never captured one of these episodes on a cardiac monitor until recently, to confirm the diagnosis.
Are you allowed to ride?
edit: SVT = supraventricular tachycardia

Did you go for a hand plane or a power planer/jointer? A nice smoothing (hand) plane can/does cost as much as a power one these days, but the satisfaction of slicing a nice long shaving of wood is quite the thing.
:sigh: I can’t seem to create enough wood dust nowadays.

new tool days are as much fun as new bike days. I’ve taken over the garage slowly but surely over the years and would like to add a nice table saw, but can do without.

I have a 13" planer already and a decent assortment of hand planes (with another smoothing plane on the way). No table saw - I don't have the room or desire at this point - so I'm going with a glorified track saw, a full Kreg ACS. That should give me the repeatability to knock out cabinets and drawers.
Once I get the shop in order and have a handle the kitchen work, I hope to start on some more interesting, fun projects.

I'd love to use only hand tools, and I've tried to do just that in the past, but **** just takes forever, so I'm taking a hybrid approach going forward.

My favorites are the planer and the jointer, but I really wouldn’t mind building my own drum sander and having nice dependable bending equipment so I can also start building acoustics, but now that I’m back in corporate system, don’t have the time anymore

My father was the Chief of Public Defenders in Philly before going into private criminal practice. (He hated being an administrator. Loved going to court.) He told me business always picked up around the holidays. One week before Christmas of 2010 someone broke into my house while my GF and I were in bed watching the 11 p.m. news. The person stole my custom touring racks along with the Surly LHT they were attached to. Also got my flip phone.

Public defender is up there with teaching in the public schools at the top of my hierarchy of socially heroic jobs.

Came in to work. Plan is to do this a.m.'s meetings from my computer, avoid close contact with humans and stay out of patient care areas, Try not to cough while interviewing a residency candidate, and leave before the 2-hr institute award ceremony I was supposed to go to.
