Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One of the tricks that FB uses to hook you back is if you've ever signed in anywhere else by using your FB authorization, you may automatically log in to a site using FB validation and the next thing you now, you'll get a notice from FB saying, "Welcome, Back!"

I have always balked at that method. I have tiptoed around FB for my entire history there.

I have very few interests; custom tailoring is not difficult with me. And, in my most recent FB iteration, I have blocked anyone who talks politics, unless they spend at least part of the year South of the border. My groups are all bicycle related, except the Far Side. In an earlier iteration, I blocked anyone posting grandbaby pics.

Your phone is listening in on your conversations. And possibly your thoughts too.

Connection too slow to upload photos. Heard a fox screaming last night. Stopped by Kootenai Falls today, where part of The Revenant was filmed. Had rain four of the first six days. Dry today. Heading off the grid again for a few days up at Yaak, MT. Grizzly country. It’s 9:43 local time and still rather light out.

Speaking of eating by the handful, have any of you tried the new hazelnut paste filled M&Ms? Blue bag. Oh, my. They should be illegal. It never ceases to amaze me how such an ordinary candy company can make some of the most extraordinary, tastiest chocolate anywhere. Eat your heart out Godiva.

Just outside and especially on the divider between freezer and cooler. It’s the motor for the fan that cools the condenser coils, which are buried underneath. This kind of DIY info and the availability of cheap parts is one very good thing about the internet, IMO. Replacement arrives tonight. Not as exciting as bike parts or knives.

Never been on FB and many people I know, including daughter, have extricated themselves.

Our Solstice ride was good. Perfect weather. I front-loaded weekend riding because today is MiL 80th Bday party at our house with 16 guests and mrs datlas catering company needs me around. Did a Century yesterday which was hard but good. We got to ride along the Susquehanna River (East side) for several miles which was fantastic.

I may lose my spot, but as of now guess who is atop the podium? I am sure it would be Indy but he is not on Strava.

Regarding FB, I actually set up an account many years ago and used it twice. It may still be there but I have not logged in for over a decade and have no plans to again.

Effectively Nutella in an easy to eat form.

It’s another gorgeous day out in the NE USA. It’s mild and sunny with low humidity. My club’s signature fund-raiser ride is today. It’s the “Chester County Challenge for Cancer” which benefits local cancer center and hospice. Of course recently the local hospital got gobbled up by the big downtown academic Medical Center, but in theory it’s still a good cause. I am glad the weather is good. I signed up and paid my donation but not riding. Sad, but only a little. Family coming in a few hours. Wegmans run already done.
