Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gusto I still got. I hit motorcycles like I did bikes when I started cycling again. I broke a bunch of fingers in 2017, and where it hurt to hold handlebars, I figured I could learn how to twist a throttle. Four motorcyles and 55,000 miles later, yep, I figured out how to twist a throttle. Two Easters ago I crashed in Southern Virginia, and took three days to ride home. Good times.

On the dogs, we have Golden Retriever/Lab mix that a breeder friend was doing a last liter of, and that is how we got one of our dogs. Having never had a Golden, I now know why they are so popular. We also have a Cavalier King Charles. Their popularity is more of a mystery.

Thanks for the Christmas rehash. 5 stars. Does not disappoint.

At that point it was bombers over the arctic, so... many hours. Far more than with missiles, and plenty of time to get the word out. Worth it? Who knows; I wasn't there. But it wasn't because they were pretending that desks would save kids from a nuclear blast.

I figure it's a success if you don't have to call an ambulance.

Bah Humbug delayed congrats on the nuptials. Funny I didn't remember that, it was mid-2016 that I moved and got scarcer. I remember in the thread when you started dating. Tri-girl, right? And if I'm wrong, dementia runs in my family so its better not to correct me.

I thought we were talking about today. Not the 50's. Missiles and the time is measured in minutes. I was unaware that this was going on today. Apparently everyone knows and i didn't get the memo.

This thread got weird over the weekend and continues to now. Ebbs and flows and little lambs eat ivy.

Dearest Ramona passed away in December 2021. I never made announcement here because I didn't wanna believe it for a long time, then by the time I was halfway coming to terms with it I still didn't know what to say.

After a few brutal years in Phoenix, AZ I'm now in beautiful Flagstaff, AZ looking forward to some fresh snow tonight.

Nice. Looking at the thread, are you a pilot? A buddy of mine is a retired Lt. Col. from the 274th, and he pilots for Alaska Air now out of Seattle. He talks about only grabbing flights that he finds interesting.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for your loss, and I am sorry to have asked. You guys were beautiful, and a part of the conversation I always enjoyed. In 2023, I lost my sister to cancer and my dad to Alxheimers. Loss sucks, and where we push it down, it won't stay there.

So so sorry.

Never ask a man if he is a pilot. If he is a pilot he will tell you in the first sentence.

I really didn’t pick a creative user name when I joined this place. I had a question that needed answering and never left.

I did the bulk of my cycling on a single speed, and one of the best Bike Forums lines I heard was : "How do you know someone rides a single speed? Cause they'll tell ya."

Since I'm going off tonight here is some more news. My wife has skin cancer on her ear and scalp. I just found out today. I guess surgery to remove it will be forthcoming. I don't think it will be too major but anytime you hear cancer it is scary. Her sister died of breast cancer at age 47. She got it before even turning 40. How cruel.

In more positive news we were approved as fosters for dogs at a shelter my wife volunteers at 2 days a week. We had our training last night. We might bring a foster pup home for Roscoe to play with. He's only got so long left and we want him to have as much joy in his life as possible.

Life is so damn complicated.
