Personally, I enjoy the sensation of driving fast. There's also the factor that today's newer cars handle more comfortably and confidently at higher speed than in years past. That said, some places make more sense to do that than others.

If it’s a wide interstate I honestly don’t mind if someone zooms at 90mph, but on a busy US highway with lots of traffic and frequent mergers and exits, no bueno.

Agreed. Which brings up another point...Why is common sense so rare?

I was driving on an empty Texas toll road down by Austin once at 130 mph, and then remembered how wild pigs were reported to roam on the highway. Slowed my arse right down.

I got a pair of Sidis from Sierra. They arrived today! They fit! I have no spare cleats to put on them! DRAT!
Meanwhile, I have a line on a bike that I plan to use to test whether it's possible for me to fix up a bike and sell it. I find myself a lot more interested in getting it, and fixing it up, than in riding it or owning it, so it could be the perfect test subject.

It has been pointed out to me that “average” extends to all measures of central tendency including mean and median.

I gained about a cm of height when they rebuilt my C-spine, but I’ve probably lost that and more since 2008.

I rarely drive over 50 mph anymore.
Fortunately, hardly anyone else drives much more than 60. I have never seen a posted speed limit higher than 110 km/h.

Speed limit is 65mph almost all of California. If the freeway is clear and you are doing 75 you will irritate a lot of drivers as they take chances to try and get around you. I hate it. It sucks driving here now for a different reason than it used to.

Is it just my imagination or is the frequency of crappy drivers increasing? Recently, seems like more folks drive below the posted limit in the fast/passing lane and stay camped out there. I admit to being a cranky old fart. Lately, I find myself cursing at more and more knucklehead drivers.
