So after a week of being off. I rode more this week than usual, and I did a massive amount of yard work. Averaged about 25000 steps a day. I decided to get on the scale this morning to see how much closer I have gotten to 155, I havnt lost any weight at all. My ice cream intake this week has been significantly higher, and I need to up my water intake. I have one more week off, so I’m hoping with these two changes I can reach it.

It's the things that I have that are too nice to throw away but not worth selling. I really wish we had a bike co-op here.

About six months ago, I had visited my family doc and we talked awhile about several issues. When I got home and was reading my after-visit report, it stated in it that I suffered from dysthymia. I had to look it up and was a little unsettled until I realized that much of every day is spent thinking about health issues and she was probably correct.
Anyway, hang in there. My wife suffers from back pain daily as a result of two major accidents that resulted in multiple rib an vertebrae fractures. Despite ortho guys saying there is nothing wrong with her back, it doesn't relieve her daily pain.

Doug, I understand and feel for you. These things can overwhelm the mind where a lot of time is given over to thinking about it especially if pain or in my case, side effects, is constantly reminding you of the situation during the day. It can become all-consuming.

The Saturday ride turned into an extended version of a weekday flail. On the way home, I got dropped by the fastest cluster and was too far ahead of the rest to wait in the cold drizzle. I guessed wrong at a fork and rode home alone.

I was talking to one of my LBS owners yesterday and he is having trouble making minor repairs for lack of parts. Then, overnight, I got a FB post from another shop that read:
"My big advice to all my friends that ride. Take extra care of your ride, parts availability is horrible."

Got my first shot yesterday (Pfizer) and didn't really feel anything out of the ordinary, but time got away from me (again) and I ended up riding in the garage. Felt okay at the start of the ride, but my HR was running suspiciously high for the wattage I was putting out. But that's been variable this year, so I ignored it. Decided to do a Tabata workout. Got through 3 sprints and decided this wasn't the day for it, so I reverted to freeriding. By the end of an hour total I really wasn't feeling THAT either. I noticed it took a long time for my HR to drop back below 120 with easy spinning.
I believe I was experiencing the effects of the vaccine, so I ended up taking some tylenol and taking it easy the rest of the evening. Slept something like 9 hours. Now my HR is closer to what I'm used to, so maybe it's passed, but I think I'll be taking it easy today.
In other news, months ago our dishwasher stopped draining, and because we were having insulation put in, and a whole new heating system, and the drains were backing up, and the Greyhound had tweaked his neck/shoulder tripping in a hole in his 'racetrack' and was in pain, we couldn't stand the thought of ONE MORE STRANGER IN THE HOUSE!!!!, so we have been living like it was the 60s for a few months. Finally get around to booking the service. The day of the service, the tech calls up, says he has good news and bad news. The good news - he knows what the problem is. The bad news - it will cost $450, the part is on backorder till the end of May, and he himself would be able to install it till mid-June. So, Mrs. GeneJockey and I are shopping for a new dishwasher. Definitely not a GE this time.

What I AM becoming aware of is that every time I see something I'm interested in on sale, like shoes or jerseys or such, it's invariably only the size I DON'T want that's on sale and the size I DO want is not to be had. I can find all the Small and Extra Small bibs I'd ever want for 50-70% off, but L or XL? Not in stock. Too many of us Husky Boys out riding these days, I suppose.

Did a nice 50 miler today with the Saturday hilly ride bunch. I an hopping to get back to that one this year. It's a different route than today's ride and 70 miles long. I felt really good out there today. The new wheels on Contador make that bike superb. The old wheels that went bad were flexible and mushy.
I think I am going to go back to a 100mm stem and slide my seat back a bit too. (I have a 110 on it now)

I did the first TT of the year last night, and I pretty much sucked eggs. Steady winds of 25-ish, with some gusts up in the 40's forecast, and I buy it. Cross Cross Tail Cross Headwind as it was an out and back. Plus, if a vehicle passed you there was the added bonus of the dead air you had to compensate for, then the sudden gust. No excuse, as everyone had the same. 12th
Today was a circuit race, with a square course. 2 miles dirt, and two miles pavement. I drove it in my truck, and it looked awesome. I then decided I better ride it and good thing I did. Holy crap. Where it wasn't washboard, it was loose. Every corner but one was an adventure. The upside, the legs opened up, and it went well. Since I'm not a sprinter, a fellow and I gave it a go with a little over a mile to go. We had a gap, and I thought we may stand a chance for second and third, as one guy did get off the front... Not to be. Caught us with a couple hundred feet to go, or so. Either way, we dropped a bunch, and I'll take a 7th.

Wife and I have both had back problems for years. The pain can be discouraging and even debilitating. After a while you can learn to live with it and learn what triggers to avoid.
In other news, no ride today, but very windy. So, wife and I hit the plant nurseries early, and were able to find plants to replace those we ripped out last fall. Feal pretty fortunate because everybody is shopping to replace the stuff that died in the February freeze. So, ended up planting all day. Now nursing back pain.
Still need to mulch. That'll take about 100 bags.
Then have to tackle the freeze killed stuff in front.
