Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That is silly if that is the case. If you google the term all that comes up is the proper ATF designation, not the silly trigeek acronym. Besides it should be Bike, Swim, Run, because the cycling is the best part of silly triathlons, so it should be mentioned first always. This is a real SBR: Which is defined by the ATF, as a rifle with shorter than a 16" barrel, and requires a $200 tax stamp to transfer.

The stupidity of firearms and explosives, particularly in civilian hands (but in general) boggles the mind. Necessary stupid evil in the hands of the military and police of course. The devil's dumbass friggin mayhem injection in the hands of wannabe idiot laymen. Most of the people I know who have actually experienced war, death and slaughter want nothing to do with any of that crap. For some bizarre reason there seems to be this fascination with war among many Americans, most of whom haven't been within 1000 miles of a battlefield in their lives. If they really knew how fortunate they are in that regard, they would never think about guns again.

I got to say that assault weapons don't have a reason to exist in civilian life and we don't need to talk about them on BF road bike forum.

Agreed, I was just simply wondering what SBR's name stood for.

No VG is cool. She owns guns too you know. I should also add I only agree with the last part you said about guns not being talked about in the Road Forum.

BTW SBRDude, what does SBR stand for? Short Barreled Rifle perhaps?
"Swim Bike Run." E.g. there's a high-end tri shop in NYC called "SBR Multisports."

FYI, Google search results are routinely customized for the searcher.

For example, my search for "SBR" pulls up a stock ticker for Sabine Royalty Trust, SBR Multisports, Sportsbook review etc. The only gun-related link is for an ammo supplier and it's way down the page.

Same for me, if I just put in "SBR", first I googled "SBR definition", and it was only ATF info.

Not that I disagree with your main point. Just going off on one of the pedantic BF side trips.

you could say that some people spend money where it's warranted, and don't spend money where it isn't.

anyway, the S5 might not be the prettiest, but anything that moves the tech forward gets a star in my book.

Agreed, tech moving forward is what matters.

finally found a pic of the black/yellow one Thor is riding. The looks are growing on me. I find it amazing they actually brought a yellow bike along. I am a Thor fan, but I never thought he was going to wear the yellow this year, let alone for going on 4 days. Well done my Norwegian Cervelo riding brother.

It has become standard practice for every team/sponsor to be prepared to equip a Tour Yellow Jersey wearer with bike/gear that emphasizes and promotes their day(s) in the Mellow Johnny, they're all doing that. Note the yellow brake hoods, decals on the rims, etc. as well. As well they should, considering that it is no longer enough to simply supply the bikes to the teams to be a big time UCI team sponsor, Velonews now reports that the minimum price of entry for a company is now the gear (which has to exceed $1 million, even at manufacturer's cost) and another $1 million plus in cold hard CASH.

In other words every company with a bicycle in the Tour de France has paid a minimum of $2 million or so to have it under that rider's ass.

I am sorry a bike can look better with certain paint jobs and wheels but it is still just a bike.
The basic up-right frame design will never make it something spectacular or sexy; it will never look like a sports car.
